A nice place to stay at a nice town to visit. The warmest welcome you can expect. The hotel would benefit from some small refurbishments but the gentle and professional staff overcomes that. Very good value for money.

Review of Pousada Convento de Vila Viçosa

Beautifully furnished in rustic style befitting the old convent building, with good quality heavy fabrics. Our room 105 had a large double bed in a sunken area with ensuite and mezzanine above.
The breakfast buffet was amazing, so much choice. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open in the evenings we were there (only weekends in March) but we found a great local restaurant nearby (O Safari). Very helpful staff.
Only complaints were some road noise at night and the bath taps and plug didn't work well, though fine for a shower.

Lovely old hotel that we found ourselves getting lost in.We ate as a large group of cyclists in the restaurant and all really enjoyed our meals.Pool environment was very relaxing Only slightly negative comment was shower water not very hot.

Really nice suite. The main cons were the terrible restaurant and the air-conditioning not working in one of the rooms. The water on the pool was cloudy and dirty. The pousada itself was a beautiful building, however in the need of some care.
Room tip: Make sure you don't use the restaurant and look for places nearby where to eat. There are nice restaurants in about 20 minutes drive.

The hotel is very good! The staff are all friendly and attentive. Everything was fine, nothing to complain about. Less than 500m from the hotel there are good restaurants. We will be back one day for sure.
Room tip: a better menu restaurant.

The room was lovely. Quite roomy with a bath and shower. Everyone in the group thought the dinner was delicious. However, the main courses were all in a cheese sauce (the meat the fish and the vegetables). There was no vegan option even though one had been requested. When I asked about it they offered me the vegetables. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. Very disappointing. When I asked at reception for a kettle I got no joy. It is a beautiful Pousada, clean and very tranquil.
