If you want to get away from it all then this is the apartment for you. The apartment is huge, occupying the whole of the top floor of a barn and very simply and comfortably furnished There was just the two of us so we were able to spread ourselves about. But if you were a family, there would still be loads of room. The bathroom is very small, but adequate and who spends time in the bathroom when you're on holiday? The best bit for us was the veranda which looked out over olive and lemon groves to the sea with a funny little railway line in the distance. The perfect place to enjoy a bottle of wine in the evening (or the morning!). The owner, Viviana, was very helpful when we arrived, drawing us maps to show how near the local supermarket and petrol station were. And this is another advantage of staying here. Although it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, within 15 minutes you can be on the beach, in the centre of Noto or walking in the nature reserve. It's a great base for exploring the towns, countryside or beaches. We went to Syracuse on the little train, which was a great experience after we had worked out where the station in Noto was, and how to buy the tickets. But that's all part of the fun! Another morning we spent wandering among the lemon trees with the lizards scampering before us.
If you like the laid back sort of holiday where you can do as much or as little of your own thing, then this is the place for you.
