Had a brilliant time yesterday, even though I thought it wouldn't be my thing. Thoroughly enjoyed it and so did the children. I do however think it would be more interesting for older children.

Visited the museum on the 5th April and spent five hours there. There was plenty to do and certainly see. You'll need time if you want to read the indepth information attached to the exhibits. Friendly staff as well.

A really good day out for adults and older children, good displays and interpretation and dozens of tanks from 1914 to present day. Reasonable entry price, outdoor display quite good, catering very good with sensible prices, close to New Forest and South Coast resorts, a good wet day venue. Very good disabled access.

Great day out with my young family who really were not interested in the actual tanks but just enjoyed the freedom of running around all the big vehicles. The indoor play area another good distraction for the kids

I, on the other hand did enjoy reading the information stands on the different tanks.

The only disappointment was the working tank demonstration, which lasted about 30mins but to be frank was pretty rubbish. Just three tanks doing a round and then what felt like just 30 seconds of mock battle at the end. This has huge potential if a bit more thought and effort were put into it.

Are you interested in tanks? No? Then this is not the place for you! Yes? Then immerse yourself in everything possibly tank related. Lots of men (not being sexist - just didn't see any women) stroking the armour plating and cooing at the sight of each new tank.
For me, the most interesting part of the museum by far was the WW1 trench display.
What would improve this museum? Some 'escape routes' (like the Ikea short cuts) which could lead outside or to the nearest quiet space (the noise in the hangar is deafening). We ate lunch in the museum cafe - good value, hot and tasty; but nowhere near enough seating for the number of people queuing. The museum is vastly improved from my previous visit about 40 years ago; being honest, I would much prefer to spend the day at Monkey World and leave those who are interested in warfare and the role of tanks at the Tank Museum.
