Really neat little spot. Comfortable rooms with all you need. Fun grounds to explore and very central to everything Tekapo has to offer. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Highly recommend to anyone looking for accommodation on a budget.

Very clean hostel and superb service by Jo and the team. Spacious grounds and a short walk (5 mins) to town. Only downside is the limit of 500MB WIFI per device per day - but this seems to be common to the area as most places in town have no WiFi (or WiFi limits). Besides, with an area like Lake Tekapo, you want to spend all your time outdoors - even in winter! Would definitely stay again!

This backpackers is budget friendly and situated merely 5 minutes from Lake Tekapo village center. Offers ensuite options and shared options to suit a myriad of travellers. Rooms are cosy and beds are comfortable. Thoughtful hosts provided a mobile heater on top of a previously installed one right beside the bed, and room temperature was just right, albeit sub zero temperatures at night. The receptionist who checked me in (during noon, 11 June) was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Even though this is marketed as a budget accommodation power adapters and tripods are readily available at the reception. Furthermore travellers with a DSLR can also capture spectacular photos of the Southern night sky directly in front of their room building. This accommodation will be flawless if installations, such as more places to hang clothes in the bathroom, and placing a chair or two in the room, can be made. Attached is a photo of chickens roaming around the property at noon :)

We stayed for 1 night in a private double. It was located separate from the main house so it felt more like a cabin than a hostel. The room was modestly sized, comfortable, and clean, with simple furnishings. We found that accommodation prices throughout the South Island are generally expensive so we thought this hostel was a comparatively reasonable value.

For facilities, we only used the kitchen area, which was kept organized and clean. We briefly walked through the common area and it looked very inviting and comfortable. There was also a nice grass/picnic area for sitting out.

The hostel was easy to find and conveniently located near the main commercial area. It is located up a small hill, ~10min to walk to the restaurants and general store. It is a ~20min walk to the Church of the Good Shepherd.

We would stay here again on a return visit to the area.

We stayed here twice, both times we visited Tekapo! The room was nice, with single beds rather than bunk beds, blankets and a radiator in the room. The beds were comfy and needed a key to get in the room so good security. Just a short walk down the road to Lake Tekapo, the most beautiful place in New Zealand (in my opinion). The staff were helpful on checking in & the was a small car park which was full both times we stayed. I would definitely stay here again if I get the chance to revisit Tekapo!
