“Best Chinese Buffet in Melbourne”
Reviewed 11 May 2012

This really is the only choice for a Chinese buffet in Melbourne. The choice of items at dinner is amazing, and the chefs are standing behind their dishes preparing the food.

The range is wonderfull, including hand prepared sushi, a small selection of indian dishes, a huge array of desserts, and a great choice on soups and chinese.

And - if you can't be bothered with the journey to Burwood (it is a trek) there is a second restaurant in the chain right in the heart of Melbourne at one end of china town.

Really good for families - kids can experiment with dishes that go beyond default chicken nuggets that many resataurants feel are appropriate for a child

Two problems - you have to book - and it isn't cheap

But the best place in Melbourne for a family to eat really good chinese / asian.

“Just okay”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

Had dinner here with friends a few days ago, but was not impressed.

Lots of food from sushi, seafood, desserts etc but it was quantity rather than quality.

The seafood was not the freshest and I found the food in general to be a bit bland. Peking duck had chewy skin instead of crispy and the dessert bar looked okay but was tasteless.
Best thing about desserts were the icy poles on offer. Melon was the best.

Staff were on the rude side, but our waiter was lovey.

It's a shame, as I was looking forward to perhaps this place become a regular place to dine.

“Expensive Buffet”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

I would say it is the best seafood buffet I've been to. There is plenty to choose from and the the seafood seems fresh. Except the deep fried food had been sitting there for quite some time. Dessert selection seemed to be average. Service was ok, the wait staff seemed to be overseas students. The environment, very noisy and they crammed in as many tables as they could. Would I go back? No, only because I pay the same money for something better at a 5 star hotel.

“Good quality Asian food buffet with a wonderful variety of dishes.”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

This is an expensive all you can eat buffet favoured by Asian & non- Asian diners alike. The food quality was good with many traditional Asian dishes, including YumCha dim sum. Like all popular Chinese restaurants, the atmosphere was noisy & bustling with tables crammed full in every viable spot.
A large variety of tastes are catered for; there was sushi, traditional herbal soups, a salad bar & fresh fruit located dangerously close to the deserts table. Stir-fry dishes can be made to order on the spot before customers from the ingredients displayed. Child friendly.....the kid's loved it!.

“Recommended for Non-Discerning Buffet Lovers”
Reviewed 23 February 2012

If you are into buffet meals, 'quasi authentic' Asian food and not short of money, then China Bar Signature is for you. It has quite a reasonable selection of food but the quality is nothing to write home about. The desserts are the worst - not much to choose from and most of the miniature sized cakes are tasteless and ordinary. The Asian icy poles are OK if you don't mind artificial flavours - the only so called 100% natural flavour is the red bean one. If you are tempted to purchase one of their discount voucher booklets - beware as they are not as good value as they are made out to be - the numerous restrictions attached to the offer make them unattractive for the average working person - but a rather clever marketing ploy indeed!
