“Superb house in a great location”

An Teallach is a well maintained house with everything you need for a great holiday. It was spotlesssly clean, decor simple but stylish with good quality fittings. The kitchen was well equipped and featured a 6 ring gas hob and two electric ovens as well as an island work area with plenty of cupboards and drawers. A huge wooden table easily accommodated 10 of us plus 2 additional guests who came for a meal. The main lounge is spacious, light and airy yet cosy in the evening with logs burning in the stove. The separate snug was a great addition for those of us wanting some quiet time. Having the washing machine and tumble dryer in a separate utility room at the rear of the house was excellent as it cut out noise in the main areas from these appliances. Patio doors lead from the lounge into a well maintained mature garden surrounded by woodland from where we watched the red squirrel feasting and a variety of garden birds taking advantage of the nuts and seeds supplied by the owners. We didn't catch sight of any deer or pine martins but were told they visit the garden area. The garden was a safe area for our 2 year old granddaughter to play (tho we had to keep our eye on her as the land isnt totally fenced off and she has a habit of suddenly wandering off). At night we enjoyed the display of stars not normally witnessed by those of us living in light polluted towns. (Turn off the house lights for an even better display of the stars including the Milky Way!) The pretty village of Nethy Bridge is only a few minutes drive from the house and has a small Spar store. There is a Visitor Centre and several walks in the area. The local people were friendly and helpful. Drive out of Nethy Bridge and you are soon into stunning countryside with a mixture of forest, lochs, farmland and mountains. Boat of Garten and Carrbridge are lovely places to visit nearby and there are other small towns within a half hour drive plus Inverness which was a 45 minute drive. The owner was helpful and her phone number available for contact in case of any problems. All in all this is a great place to stay if you're looking for some peace and quiet in a lovely rural setting without being too isolated.

Liked best: The high ceilinged lounge and open plan space with large windows which made it bright and airy and warm.
Liked least: The hard flooring on the stairs and upstairs was a bit noisy underfoot until we got used to walking more quietly!

“Lovely, large house in woodland setting”

This is a spacious, well-equipped holiday rental at the edge of the Abernethy Nature Reserve and Nethy Bridge village. We saw red squirrels in the garden and deers in the nearby area. The setting is really beautiful and peaceful - a great place for a holiday! The owners have furnished the house with thought - books, films and games were all available for the kids. There was also a lovely pack of groceries on arrival for our week's stay. The surrounding area is full of options for activities for all ages, you will run out of days before you run out of things to do.

“An amazing house in the most idyllic location with beautiful surroundings”

The lovely owners (who we met on leaving) of this beautiful holiday home have considered everything to make your holiday really enjoyable and make you feel very welcome. Everything is really well communicated; the house is fully equipped with everything you may need and the layout is perfect and accommodates a large group very well. The large open living space, which is the 'hub' of the house, opens onto the garden which was great for the children to play safely and be in touch with nature (lots of birds and squirrels feeding in the garden and we were lucky to see a deer pass by the garden during our stay). The snug was perfect for our children to chill and watch movies during the evening - they loved having their own space. The local village is a short walk/cycle away and has a spar and good butchers for everyday supplies. The surrounding area is idyllic and the house is well located to explore all the Cairngorms has to offer. We will be returning soon!
