Solely based on TA reviews we went to nearby Magione with the only reason to have dinner at Taverna di Isa. The Taverna is situated in a main road of Magione city center. Not much to look at, so location wise we were kind of disappointed.
We went there at 6.30 pm, opening time. The friendly waiter was still setting the tables, but we could pick any spot. Tip: get to the left back of the terrace to enjoy a great view over the Umbrian hills.
We ordered: bruschette and prosciutto e melone as starters. Scaloppine al limone and Tagliata ai funghi porcini. Our daughter was having a baby Margherita.
We were blown away by the perfect experience. Simple Italian cooking at its utmost best. Strong flavours, but able to taste every flavour. The bruschette were perfect. Rich in taste, not too much topping but certainly not too little. Perfect balance.
The prosciutto e melone is worth mentioning on its own. The chosen ham and melon combined perfectly, a perfect balance between salty and sweet. Best combination of ham and melon I have ever tasted.
Mains were excellent again. Rich flavour of lemon on the veal but not overpowering. Perfect porcini ‘sauce’ over my beef (which was cooked exactly to my order, sangue or bloody). Wow! Pizza was very tasty as well judging by the amount of pizza our daughter ate.
We finished with panna cotta (senza niente) and a chocolate cake. The perfect way to end a wonderful dinner at Di Isa.
Lastly the staff: my compliments. Responding in Italian, combining humour and attentiveness in his actions. We will be back.
