Description: The internal dining room is cosy and sophisticated, perfect for a candle-lit dinner; in good weather you can enjoy the chef’s delicious meals outdoors in the square, a must in this lost angle of paradise. Homemade pasta, tenderloin, fillets, bistecca alla fiorentina (sirloin steak “made in Tuscany”), a selection of Pecorino di Pienza (sheep cheese) and Sienese sausages are just some of the items that you will find on the restaurant’s menu. The extensive wine selection at the “La Piazzetta” restaurant invites to discover the prestige and the extraordinary quality of the DOC and DOCG wines produced in this region.

My Wife and I enjoyed a lovely meal at this quiet, smart restaurant. Although the menu focusses on Tuscan - meat based - specialities, there are some super vegetarian options.
The wild boar with a side of spinach was delightful, and the spinach and ricotta canneloni with sage butter was delicious.
Service was friendly, attentive and efficient, when I requested a glass of wine which was out of stock he willingly substituted a non-listed better wine.
All in all a very good meal.

We stayed at the hotel that is connected, which offered 10% off the ticket, so we thought we'd check it out. The prices were OK, but I've had better Cacio e Pepe from NYC restaurants... so, I left a little disappointed. The waiter was a little rude, when offering us water, we asked if it was free (in Italian), which of course it wasn't so we politely declined, but he scoffed at us as if we asked if the meal was free. We split a small bottle of the Rosso di Montepulciano, which went well with the Cacio e Pepe and the Wild Boar pasta. All in all, the meal wasn't bad, but nothing I'll dream about either.

However, the atmosphere is nice and they offer outside dining, but it's not a busy location, so not much people watching to be had.

We were two couples who‘d met on a hike. The restaurant is smartly decorated and quieter than some of the alternatives closer to the centre, ideal for chatting with friends. Service was also unobstrusive and professional. Our starters were bruschetta with pecorino and black truffle, dried meat with rucola and cheese, mixed salad, and pici with a meat sauce. Our mains were chianina beef in wine sauce, ravioli, and two tagliatelle with porcini. All of the dishes were well up to standard. We drank two bottles of Montemercurio Rosso di Montalcino and mineral water, and paid Euro 120, a very reasonable price.

My Husband and I last visited this restaurant 3 years ago and went there for dinner in June of this year (2017). It was a lovely warm evening and dined outside. The food and wines are are reasonably priced and good quality. Pleasant staff, we would be pleased to return to this restaurant on our next visit to Pienza

We went for lunch on this restaurant after seeing it recommended on Michelin guide.
It was our very first disappointment on Michelin...
We felt as if the place had been closed for months and just reopened. Apart from the decoration, which was very outdated, the wine glasses smelled like mold. Spoiled the very nice wine we ordered.
About the wines, they keep them on a cupboard standing up with direct light on them. You don't have to be a wine expert to know that's not how you store wine.
Now let's talk about the food.
We ordered for entries a bruschetta with pecorino and truffles. The bread was rubbery as if it had been heated on a microwave.
One of the pastas we ordered was a ravioli with pecorino on top, which was too salty and tasteless.
We weren't brave enough to order desert.
The waitress was very nice.
