A cosy place, impeccable service and food which is out of this world! We ordered Selezione "Pecorini di Pienza" abbinati con mostarda .... (13 Euro), Pici fatti a mano al ragu di Fiorella (10 Euro), half a litre of house wine (5.50 Euro) (very good) and dessert - panna cotta (6.50 Euro) and budino di cioccolato fondente com amaretti (5.50 Euro). There is coperto - 2 Euro per person.
Next time we go to Pienza, we won't be looking for another place for lunch.

Trattoria Fiorella felt like a local dinner spot on a small street in charming Pienza. We enjoyed the quaint and cozy feel of the restaurant and the gnocchi was delicious. It was a nice change of pace from the larger more touristic restaurants in the area.

The friendly staff immediately welcomes you to their restaurant and it's apparent they put a lot of skill and love into their food. Frequent travelers we met highly recommended the baked pecorino with truffles appetizer. They were right! As quickly as our family of four devoured that starter, we could have easily eaten two! None of us was hungry enough to try any of the meats on the menu, but the rabbit served to nearby tables seemed to please. We enjoyed the local specialty - pici, as well as a nice bottle of local white wine recommended by our server. Pienza is not a big town, and this little spot just a 2 minute walk from the main piazza, is worth investigating.

When I dine in any restaurant I think first of how we are welcomed, second, what is the ambiance like, how is the service, how is the food and wine selections and finally, is the bill in line with the whole experience. With a suggestion from a much beloved leather shop owner who always wears his "Slow Food" apron, we strolled over to Trattoria Fiorella 30 minutes before the restaurant was opening. The proprietor greeted us with a friendly smile and suggested we arrive between 7:30 & 7:45 to insure we'd get a table. Luckily we followed his suggestion because the little restaurant was already about 70% full.
We shared a pasta with a white duck ragu, followed by a rabbit with olives and rosemary and lamb scottadito, which is grilled lamb with lemon. All three dishes were outstanding .What was most impressive was the quality of the lamb which is a must in such a simple preparation. The rabbit stood out as one of the best rabbits I've had since my favorite that I ate in Rome over 10 years ago. What made it so good? Both the pieces of loin along with a thigh and leg were moist, perfectly seasoned with a simple scattering of a few delicious black tuscan olives and the barest flavor of rosemary. Perhaps there was white wine in the reduced juices. It was delicious. We enjoyed the authenticity of the building, the effort the restaurant takes in the tablecloths and place settings and the service. Considering that our bill worked out to about 35 euros a person which included a bottle of wine, I thought it was all worth it and I plan on going back again.
