“Beautiful! Our second visit in two years!”
Reviewed 11 February 2016 for a stay in August 2015

We've stayed at the villa twice - once with friends in May 2014 and the second time with family! Both times we loved it! It's in a perfect location for visiting Florence, Chianti, Sienna and close enough to Lucca for evenings out. The villa is beautiful and set in the most idillic location.

A car is a must and the road to the villa is super small but if you're a confident driver it's fine - we had a minibus type car the first time round and managed fine!

Sofia was really great and we had no problems at all with the villa! I would thoroughly recommend it! Make sure you go to the little restaurant on the way to villa - the food is incredible and the family very welcoming!

“Stunning”

This is a beautiful villa set in a secluded location with stunning views over the local valley and hill-top villages.
It is an ideal location for anyone who wants to either relax around a pool all day or use the villa as a base to explore the region (Lucca, Pisa and Florence all between 1/2 to 1&1/2 hours away).
The best compliment I can make is that I will definitely return again without hesitation.

“The perfect holiday for us”
Reviewed 29 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We have just spent a week at Villa Barselotti with friends and family. It may well be the best combination of fun and relaxation that we have ever found. The villa is absolutely beautiful and spacious enough for 8 or 9 with no compromise on comfort. There is plenty of space for everyone inside and out. The setting is simply wonderful; waking up to those views or watching the moon and Venus dropping into the distant hills is unforgettable.
We loved the pool and the outside dining area and were very impressed by the upkeep from gardeners and cleaner while we were there.
There is lots to do in the local area and it is a joy because it is not overrun with tourists. Casabasciana is delightful as is Bagni di Lucca where you will find everything you need. Lucca is an easy journey and we spent a wonderful evening there.
Finally, I have to praise Sofia and Pierangelo for being wonderful, genuine hosts who certainly went well out of their way for us.

“Fabulous holiday at a superb relaxing villa”
Reviewed 26 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We have just stayed at Villa Barsellotti for the fourth year in succession. When we booked our first visit, we had some uncertainty about the remote location, because we had no connection with the area. However that was rapidly resolved once there. We will go back next year if there is availability. It is the most relaxing holiday that we have ever had.

The villa is in a very secluded location quite high on the south-facing slope of one side of the Lima valley, on the site of an old barn. Pierangelo and Sofia, the owners, planned and built the villa, and have done so with huge thought and vision. The villa sleeps 8 easily, 9 is possible. The villa is finished to a very high standard and furnished very well. The kitchen is fully equipped for a self-catering stay. The pool is a delight, with a table close by, covered in a rustic style to offer shade. There is an excellent stone barbecue, table tennis, mountain bikes, Sky TV and good Wi-Fi. We think that the photos on this page are a good representation of the property.

Access by car is up the mountain road (10-12 minutes) and then along the 2 minute drive. Our Ford Galaxy has no difficulty with the dusty track of the drive: it is quite steep and winds, but the previous comment about a 4x4 does not fit with our experience.

10 minutes walk up the hill is Casabasciana, a delightful hillside hamlet, with a very friendly cafe in the square, and a fantastic shop run by a couple who sell almost everything and are also very friendly.

Halfway down the hillside is the Aurora restaurant, where we have consistently had good food and very friendly service. Bagni di Lucca is a delightful small town, with two good supermarkets. The local people have been charming and very helpful.

This summer we had a visit to Pierangelo and Sofia's quad biking (Lucca Quad), and that was very good fun.

Both Pierangelo and Sofia have literally gone out of their way for us and have been ideal owners. Holiday queries and hiccups are inevitable, and they have been unfailing in their help, whether it be activity or restaurant advice (as well as Aurora, Il Biribisso), car problems (not related to the driveway !) or whatever. We have huge confidence borne from four years of experience with them. Sofia is a native English speaker.

“Amazing views and tranquil location”

We stayed at Villa Barselotti in June 2014' as the final part of an extended tour across Italy. After having been on the road for 10 days with two young children in tow, our party of seven were absolutely delighted with the Villa accommodations. Pool, bathroom, kitchen facilities all immaculately presented. The location was more remote than anticipated with a nail biting adrenaline pumped drive up the mountain and entrance to villa but a sacrifice we would happily make again for the stunning views. Villa close enough for day trips to Lucca., Pisa and Florence.
