This is an excellent self catering accommodation with all that you would require for a great break. Staff are very friendly and keen to provide the best for their guests. The owners and their Team go all out to ensure everyone has a great stay and are very receptive to any suggestion which can improve that. One thing they cannot alter is the "hill" which leads to the complex. Yes it is a challenge, yes it is fairly steep at the
closing stages. It is not for those with mobility problems such as myself but there is car hire available and a very good and reasonably priced Taxi Service. At the sumit of the "hill" is the view; a superb uninterupted vista of the sea and the Lixouri side of the island. It allows great views of the many Cruise Ships which pass by on their way to Corfu and Venice plus the variety of sailing vessels from the smaller dinghy to the larger
Billionaires yacht.
The Dionysos has a terrific swimming pool and provides plenty sunbeds & parasols, it just requires guests to be more considerate of others by not placing their towels on sunbeds in the early morning then not turning up till mid afternoon. Alas there are still those sad,
selfish types who do this.
The pool bar also provides great food during the day, the Restaurant doing likewise for breakfast and dinner. Several nights of the week entertainment is provided at the pool bar, such as a Greek Night with Staff & Guest participation should you want to and a superb
vocalist named Hollis who sings a variety of genres, catering for all.
This is a complex suitable for families, couples and single holidaymakers. Excellent value for money and we cannot recommend it too highly. As Arnie once said, we will be back.

The staff is so friendly and helpful you cann't find even in a five star hotel. The owners Maria and Dionysis would do anything to make sure you and your family have a pleasant vacation. We spent a week in Santorini a week in Cyprus and a week in Kefalonia and for what we paid here it was definitely the best!!
Thank you Maria and Dionysis.

We have just returned from two lovely weeks at Kefalonia resort having stayed there 8th – 22nd July 2012. We absolutely fell in love with Kefalonia and are very happy that we stayed ay Dionysos Village Resort.
I shall start with the hill which always seems to be a hot subject in previous reviews. My wife and I are pretty fit and go to the gym regularly. We have also been known to take the odd walking holiday in Scotland so were never going to struggle too much with the hill. I walked it with a running app on my iPhone which tracks the route you take and gives the time and distance travelled. The hill is just 0.54 miles and took us 10min 49secs to walk up on our last morning at a normal pace. The majority of it is a pretty gentle slope with two areas of where it’s steeper. The first is at the bottom and is the lesser of the steeper parts. It runs from the road to the San Lorenzo Village, is about 30 meters or so and takes just a minute to walk up. I can’t imagine anyone would struggle with this part. The greater of the two steeper parts is just before Dionysos and this is the hill that everyone mentions. This is pretty steep but is about 50 meters long taking a couple of minutes to walk up. If you’re not the fittest person just take your time. It’s harder in the day because of the heat but a lot easier in the evening when it’s cooler. We did it twice a day and I even ran up it one morning after seeing a local in his running gear do it the morning before. We never got a taxi up it. So in summary, 80% of the hill is a gentle incline with a short, sharp shock near the top! Some reviews make it sound un-walkable which just isn’t the case unless you have health issues etc. It’s all totally worth it as the hotel’s location provides amazing views that you will never get bored of your entire stay.
The pool area was excellent with plenty of room for everyone. Being higher up meant a bit of a breeze most afternoons which was essential in with the temperature in the high 30’s. The first few days people were getting up early to put towels down so if you turned up a bit later you wouldn’t get a sun bed. The hotel then put in place a no sun bed reservation policy saying any towels put down would be removed. Although we were sceptical about this policy it did work and we never had a problem getting a place for the rest of the holiday. The hotel also brought in some new sun beds which alleviated the problem further still.
Our room was as people have mentioned before. We had a studio which was a nice size, very clean and is excellent decorative order. We did find there wasn’t quite enough storage for all our clothes and this could be improved by there being a few more hangers in the wardrobe (we had 8). The shower head when we arrived had a crack in the top but this was very quickly replaced once we mentioned it. With the new head there was good water pressure and no further problems. We paid the 110 euro for 2 weeks aircon on arrival and it was needed. We spoke to others who tried to do without but all gave in in the end. There was a bit of a heat wave when we were there. We also paid the 20 euro for the safety deposit box for peace of mind. Paying all this out on arrival was a bit steep but we planned to do this and factored this into our budget. The maids came roughly every other day and were a little erratic. They didn’t always change the sheets/towels or provide more toilet paper. Our sheets and towels were changed 4 times during our stay which was adequate. The towels were nice quality too. My wife did find that her expensive face moisturiser had been used. We smoothed over the cream in the jar and low and behold, following the next visit by the maids a little more had been scooped out. We saw the humorous side, didn’t bother making a fuss and didn’t report it but it was locked in the safe for the rest of the holiday!
We didn’t really see much of Maria or Dennis but found the other staff all pleasant enough. Our favourite by a mile was Ifi at the pool bar in the evening. She is the sweetest person and I strongly recommend one of her cocktails in happy hour for 4 euro. We always seemed to have a better night out after starting it off at the pool bar with Ifi. The pool bar does nice snacks for lunch although there’s more of a selection in town if you can be bothered to walk down. We had a meal at the hotel restaurant on our first night and this was where we saw the best view of the sunset of our entire stay. The food was very nice but the food in Lassi and Agostolli was of such an excellent standard that we didn’t eat there again apart from once at the BBQ night and once at the Rock Night. The BBQ food was nice and plenty of it but the 15 euro each didn’t include drinks. You can eat a two course meal for two with a litre of wine for 30-35 euro in Lassi which will a bit nicer food and so better value. The buffet at the rock night wasn’t the best but at 10 euro each it didn’t cost a fortune either. Not a lot of people were at the buffet so we left early and ended up giving the live music a miss too as we went into Lassi. The week before was very busy and a good night by all accounts so maybe we were just a bit unlucky. It’s not that the hotel food was particularly poor at all, it was nice. It’s just we found the food elsewhere to be such an excellent high standard. If you get some wine with your meal, make sure you buy by the carafe as anything in a bottle is more expensive but no better. A litre of the local white wine is fine and only 8-9 euros.
The hotel was in an ideal location for Lassi and Agostolli. It’s nice to have the two options to choose from for a visit of an evening. It’s nice to be slightly away from it all up the hill for the quiet and or course the views. We went into Agostolli four times during the day and 3 times in the evening. It’s a 20 minute walk over the hill or a 6 euro taxi. We walked in a got a taxi back most times. Favourite restaurant in Agostolli was Casa Grec just off the main square. Best food on the island no question. In Lassi are favourites were Neffelli’s, Phaedra and Butlers House although there’s very little to choose between most of the restaurants all were of such a high standard, it just comes down to their location and surroundings.
We had the greatest time on our holiday in Kefalonia and Dionysos was a big part of that. If ever we returned to Lassi, Dionysos is where we would stay.
Hope this has been of help.

Room Tip: Athena Block are away from pool area so are quieter and have great views.

Still currently staying at the dionysos , our stay was for 9 nights , and can honestly say one of the best holidays I have ever been on ,Maria and Dennis are fantastic hosts. The location of the hotel is up a hill , but if u didn't have the hill you wouldn't get the fantastic views of the island , I'm not lying when I say they are breathtaking. The hill takes about 10 minutes to walk down and about 15 to walk back up , there is a steep bit , but take your time and it's fine. I highly recommend the Greek night , the food was fantastic and value for money there's also a good rock night with hollis doing the vocals , I recommend the sizzle and sail boat trip , it's 50 euros , departs from agostoli , you sail around the peninsula where you can jump off the boat to cool off , then you arrive at rabbitt island where you can snorkel , then the boat sails to the red beach where there is a fantastic BBQ and water volley ball the captain attaches a net from the beach to the boat it's fantastic.
You need to go to agostoli in the morning when the fishermen get in to see the loggerhead turtles there amazing... The staff at the hotel are fantastic ,Maria does the breakfast and runs the pool bar along with tony during the day , and iffy runs the bar of an evening and boy does she make some great cocktails :-) I could of happily stayed here longer , I highly recommend this place and would difinately come back .... I love dionysos and kefalonia
