I confirm all the criticisms. Old hotel, probably built in the late 70s or early 80s. No charm at all. You can hear the neighbours clearly. The used furniture corresponds to what is usually found in a summer camp (see photos). The swimming pool is worthy of a campsite and old-fashioned. In the bathroom the pvc pipes are very visible. Finally, the staff is unkind. In a word, pass your way, you will find much better around.

We booked a double rooming this hotel 1 month ago but when we arrived, they gave us a triple bed room in the back of the lobby (with a little window and no view, not the balcony you see on pix). We asked them to make 1 double bed with 2 little, but they REFUSED AND CANCELLED THE RESERVATION INSTEAD!
TOTALLY UNRELIABLE HOTEL own by an old couple not professional at all!
Don't book anything there you'll have bad surprise. BE CAREFUL as they will take 30% of the full price of your reservation minimum if you do not like the room...
We end up in wonderful and big house "Gite de France" with a warm couple to welcome us... so happy we left this hotel!

The location is great.
Rooms large enough and all face the valley which is nice.
The air con in the room was good.
The place needs some serious refurbishment.
The rooms look tired. The bathrooms are very basic. showers over bath but no shower screens guarantees a wet floor.
Service was odd. Not friendly. No flexibility. Breakfast was ok but not special at all. Could be so much better.

I had only 2 days staying in Buis and had the hotel on a recommendation from family. On arrival I immediately felt the stress of a 12 drive ebbing away into the lavender filled valleys, reception was light and airy and smelt of a mix of wild thyme, lavender and a hint of coffee. Check in was polite and courteous and even with my stumbling French the owner was pleasant.
I love the way the keys are kept on a board in the reception area so that you can help yourself, ideal for someone like me who frequently misplaces things..
The room was clean and well furnished with typical French style, and a balcony over looking the hills was an absolute sell.
The bathroom was clean and tidy if not slightly dark being lit by the shaver light only, a movable unit with drawers was a slightly odd addition but turned out great for putting my laptop on!
I could go on for a long time about this lovely provincial hotel - but to summarise..try it you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: They are all South facing, but if you want wiFi reception get a room over the front entrance!
