La Garde-Freinet is tucked away in the hills about a 30 minute drive north of St. Tropez. The village was beautiful with its maze of little narrow streets, plenty of places to eat, bakery, post-office, chemist, walks, ancient forts, and a variety of small shops. Cogolin (about 20 minute drive) has a massive supermarket and there is a large weekend market just south of Grimaud. Easy access to St. Tropez from Port Grimaud where we were able take a short boat trip to St. Tropez (car park in Port Grimaud). A 25 minute drive to train station in Les Arcs where we were able to visit Nice and Marseille with ease (free car parking too!). The Nut House was delightful as were the locals in the village.
The Nut House is situated in the beautiful village of La Garde Freinet, just north of St Tropez. It has everything you could possibly need,(right down to umbrellas),and has obviously been restored with much love by the owners. The village itself is beautiful, with more than enough bars and restaurants to cater for any tastes, and there are 2 supermarkets, both also very well stocked,as well as the very important bakeries! The location is perfect for travelling farther afield as it is only about 13 miles from the autoroute - not that you’d know as it is so peaceful. We travelled to see family in Nice and also a day out in the Camargue, only about 2 hour drive away.
From start to finish,James the owner was very attentive and informative, even contacting us after we arrived to check that we had everything we needed.Thank you for a fantastic holiday!
Lovely village house in perfect location. Fully equipped. Could not the house, location and friendliness of the local. I will be back as Arni says. Owners very responsive to any questions.
Excellent location for anyone enjoying scenic walks but the beaches and all the seaside offers not far away...The Glitz of St Tropez or a coastal cove with beach bar..many choices. The village offers shops and bars/restaurants - everyone was extremely friendly and our dogs made welcome by all. We enjoyed an excellent week - whatever you may have lost in size, was made up for in the wecoming feeling of entering the house. We congratulate you on the level of equipment provided, you have truly thought of everything ! Living on one level our dogs
loved the spiral staircases. We Loved the village, which must surely rate as the most dog-friendly in France. We couldn't go anywhere without being stopped for the dogs to be made a fuss of. Would recommend to any of our like minded friends...Thank you for a super week...We also loved Port Grimaud, the town of Grimaud and many other places
Another enjoyable week at the Nut House. Perfectly located for exploring Côte d'Azur but in the lovely vibrant village of La Garde-Freinet. Just a few steps from the high street and there are numerous bars and restaurants to choose from each evening including live entertainment some evenings.
The little house has everything you need for a comfortable holiday and accommodates either a couple or family.
