This 3 bedroom villa in Gata is in a really peaceful location in the hills above Omis. If you like the more quiet, rural environment then this is perfect - we loved it! The villa is really clean and well equipped. Our hosts Adela and Stipe (and daughter Dora), were so very accommodating and made sure our stay was really enjoyable (with welcome complimentary bottle of local (ish) wine and local liquer and local ham, cheese and bread). There's a lovely pool (not big, but enough to keep cool), and a large outside space with sun loungers, good shade and table/chairs to have long restful breakfasts before getting out and about. The villa is surrounded by trees, nicely private, with a lovely mountain backdrop. There's an outside barbeque, an area to play games - swings etc., for younger children, outside badminton and table tennis set up in the double garage area. If we had to be really picky, we'd have liked firmer, better quality sleeping pillows (small thing but worth noting). We would definitely return to this amazing villa. There's lots to do in the surrounding area aswell, only 10 minutes drive for zip wiring, river boat rides and river canyoning, rock climbing, paragliding, cycling and walking trails in the woods and forests (the latter being just behind the villa!). Both sandy and pebble beaches are also within a 10 minute drive (we liked Duce and Nemira, although hosts recommended Brzet which unfortunately we didn't get to see). There are local buses coming through the village of Gata and we were told that they are about every 2 hours (not sure what time they stop though as we had a car to get around). However, one day we did take a bus into Split from Omis, which are every half hour and run until midnight back from Split to Omis. We'd recommend this rather than spend half the day trying to find a parking space in Split. Split was very pleasant, lots of history and lots to tempt your purse aswell! We're also foodies and sampled some of the best fish dishes we've ever had in both Omis, the surrounding areas and Split. And above all, the people of Croatia make Croatia what it is - one of the most welcoming places we've been!
