The previous reviewee of the same date says it all, we were there from 5th to 12th March 11, room perfectly adequate, food very good and tasty, bar prices good for europe too (3.20 euros for large beer). The wellness room was very good and high quality, though as previously mentioned it is traditional to use the various saunas naked, you can preserve your modesty and cover with a towel if you wish, no one will mind!
We paid £475 per person (Newcastle flight) booking about 5 weeks before with Crystal, included in the package is ski, boot and pole hire from the hotel. The equipment was this seasons, of good quality and George (the hotel owner) fitted us out. George is an ex ski racer so knows what he is doing.
Skiing at Stubia Glacier was excellent, it is a huge area and has a lerge selection of blue an red runs. Some of the blues and red pistes are similar in that they have easy and steep parts to them, but if you are a beginner there are plenty of pistes suitable, equally I am an experienced intermediate skier and never ran out of decent pistes. For more advanced skiers there is plenty of off piste skiing which if there is fresh snow fall would be great fun.
Lift passes are euros 184.50 each for 6 days at Neustift and Stubia Glacier, its not worth buying the full area pass which includesSchlick 2000 unless you are staying in Fulpmes as the Glacier is much better and you are unlikely to use it. If you dont have a pass when you arrive George will get them for you, he does not charge you until you settle your bill at the end of the holiday either, great service I'd say.
A great holiday, well organised with high quality facilities at both the hotel and Glacier.
Recommended!

I've just returned from a weeks stay in the Alpenhotel Tirolerhof hotel in Neustift with my fiancee. It was booked around 4 weeks ago from the Crystal sale - and came in at around £600 per person for half board flying from Edinburgh. Our previous boarding holidays have been in 5* Fairmont hotels in Canada - so I wasn't sure what to expect. With an expensive wedding and honeymoon this year, we wanted something reasonably priced.

On arrival, we were given a tour of the hotel from one of the owners. We were assigned a dining table which was ours for the week, and the menu selection was explained. Each morning, an evening menu is on your table. It consists of salad, soup, starter, main and pudding. You are given a choice of 3 main courses and have to pick one. The other 4 courses are fixed - although you can ask to skip them if there is something you don't fancy. We were then shown the bar and the ski store area. We also got a brief tour of the hotels 'wellness' area - which is a large jacuzzi and a few different types of steam rooms.

The room itself was what I imagine to be a traditional Austrian style. It was a good size and nice and clean. There was a flat screen TV on the wall - but the only English channel was CNN news. The room was cleaned daily and the towels were changed. We had a great view out the back of the Neustift ski area. The only down points to the room was that it had no kettle or fridge. My fiancee likes to make a cup of tea before bedt!!

The Neustift ski area is very limited at this time of year, and only had 2 runs open. I tried it on the last day, but after an hour I was bored of going 2 minutes down and 10 minutes back up! The Stubai Glacier is where the real snow is - and is approximately 25 minutes away on the ski bus. As its 2000-3200M high, its guaranteed snow all year long - and only closes from June to September. The ski buses run like clockwork, and we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for one. The bus stop is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. A plus point is that the nearest bus stop is one of the first in the Neustift area on the way to the glacier, so there are usually seats on the bus when it arrives. As you get closer to the glacier, the bus fills up. We were unfortunate to be there during a German holiday - so the whole area was quite busy for a few days! The Stubai Glacier was amazing. Great snow and we had sunshine the whole week. The area is huge with lots of high speed Gondolas and chairlifts. My fiancee doesn't get on particularly well with drag lifts - and didn't have to use one for the whole week! It also has a great selection of restaurants and drinks stops too.
As the bus was so busy, we invested in lockers at the glacier to save us carting our boards back and forth every day. They were €2 per night, per board - so it was a no brainer.

After our first day of boarding we tested out the wellness area. The jacuzzi was great, but Austrian tradition means you have to go nude to use the steam rooms and saunas! When half of the hotel residents are old and 'larger' - this is something I'd rather not have to spectate! After a few days we avoided the wellness area because of small children running around and splashing about in the jacuzzi. It kind of spoiled the relaxation aspect, however, the area is beautiful and very clean.
The wellness area also offers massages, my fiancee had one and said that it was lovely.
There is also an outdoor swimming pool - but this looked to be frozen over!

The hotel restaurant was lovely. I'm a very picky eater - but I managed to find something to eat every night, and thoroughly enjoyed most of the meals. I did skip a couple of starters though - but who really wants to eat 5 courses?! Breakfast was the usual selection of cereals, breads, fruits, eggs, cold meats, cheese, juices, tea, coffee etc. The restaurant staff were brilliant - and remembered what you drank. They were all really friendly and very chatty. Most of the staff spoke great English (as we don't really speak German) and the owner speaks perfect English. He came round all the dinner tables on Thursday evening and had a chat with the guests - which was a nice touch.

Although the Neustift ski area was pretty poor at this time of year, it does offer tobogganing. It has the longest run in Austria, and the hotel offer free toboggans. The lift pass from the glacier allows you to use the Neustift Elffer gondola lift - which takes you to the top of the toboggan run. It's a 2 minute walk from the hotel. We went twice, and I think all the bruises I have just now are from tobogganing rather than snowboarding! It's brilliant fun!

In summary, we had a great time - and would definitely come back here is we decide to return to Austria. The cost of the holiday was less than half of our Canadian holidays, and as breakfast and dinner are included we needed much less spending money too. The hotel bar prices are very reasonable, and the resort is well priced too. The village seemed pretty quiet, so those looking for a party atmosphere may want to consider somewhere else. Other things worth mentioning are the hotels has free Wi-Fi and that there is a supermarket across the road!

We certainly had no problem sleeping at night with the window shut of course. The room was a reasonable size with adequate storage, a triple wardrobe and a set of drawers plus a draw each side of the bed, more than enough room to store 15kgs of allowable luggage x 2. ( yes we flew to Innsbruck ) Bathroom was clean and roomy and as some might say "there was plenty of hot water" which means that you could have a hot bath every night ( or shower ).
The staff were very helpful and would do there best to help you, the owner even drove the taxi mini bus to take guests for a night out, free as well.
A five course meal was very filling, although very quick between courses but that was easily overcome by keeping the cutlery in your hands.
We chose this particular hotel because of the central location to the ski areas ( one of which is only 100m behind the hotel ) and the quite nightlife. Too many European ski resorts are too commercial and have lost their chocolate box / postcard look to them. If you want a quite ski resort with the most update lift equipment ,( covers on chairlifts ) no queues, wide open pistes, loads of off piste, no moguls, modern mountain restaurants with clean toilets ( no charge to use them ) and most importantly no drunken louts out in the streets until the early hours, then this is the resort for you. But most of all this is the best Hotel to relax in after a hard day on the mountain with free saunas , 4 different sauna rooms, a large jacuzzi, warm / cold step pools, a solarium, a beauty pool, a massage room, an indoor sun terrace, an outdoor sun terrace and an outdoor swimming pool. (summer only )
Just picked up next winters brochures and will be booking again soon.

Spent a week as a family there for our skiing holiday. We had a family room which was a good size but in need of renovation. It was also facing and right next to the main road which meant a great deal of traffic noise when you sleep with window open. The sauna area is nice but small and can get crowded. The main restaurant and lobby has been updated and is fairly pleasant and nicer than the rooms. The main downside to the place is the service - the owners never mingle with guests and this means that as a hotel guest you have more contact with the restaurant staff than anyone else and so the place contrary to other reports doesn't have a "personal atmosphere". The food is mediocre and not really of 4 star standard - breakfast was very simple and boring after a week and dinner is like a rollercoaster ride - one has the feeling the guys serving just want to get service over and done with so they can go home - they served us three courses in half an hour and my husband had to struggle with indegestion all week - it isn't really a 4 star dining experience and one where you can sit and enjoy your meal. It was satisfactory, but a little disappointing. Overall it was good value for money, but I was left feeling that we could have got a nicer place for the same price had we shopped around more. Wouldn't go back and although skiing on the stubai glacier is excellent - the 20 minute bus ride there and then back again was just a little far especially with kids.

I'm going to put my review in bullet points - sorry if that seems very square but it's just to make sure I don’t go off on tangents! We went as 2 couples from March 27th – April 3rd 2010 on the hotel’s winter package which included breakfast, dinner and skipass for the local Elfer Lift and glacier. The Elfer lifts were closed due to lack of snow but that didn’t bother us as the glacier is only 20 mins away and has loads to offer.

Hotel
Very warm, friendly and clean. I could tell the staff were good even from our initial emails and the owner George and his wife Sandra are very helpful and professional. There is always a great atmosphere around the place from staff and guests alike. The hotel is situated only 5 mins walk from the centre of the village and 2 mins from the bus-top which takes you to the glacier in 20 mins. It makes life very easy. We took the hotel taxi to and from Innsbruck train station which is inexpensive and only takes 20 mins – especially when Waltor is driving! We hired ski and snowboard gear which was all fine and very reasonably priced but just be wary yourself about the gear as some of it may be a little worn which is understandable but just make sure about straps on snowboard boots etc before you head out.

Food
The breakfasts were all you could need for a long day on the slopes. Good combination of cereals, fruit, eggs, juices etc which sets you up perfectly for the day. The dinners are good too. Considering our package included dinners, it is excellent value for 5 courses every night. The staff are courteous, efficient and friendly. For the food and service critics out there, some of the meals may have been a little bland and you certainly don’t get much time between courses to digest but I’m splitting hairs here. We were very happy overall. As much as we talked about venturing somewhere different for dinner one of the nights, we never did.

Rooms
Warm, comfortable and clean with balcony to enjoy the view. Service was efficient every day and showering and washing facilities were perfect.

Facilities
The wellness area is a godsend after the bumps and bruises and exertion on the slopes. There was always plenty of space and again a friendly atmosphere. Plenty of sauna/steam areas to relax in. The Jacuzzi was a bit cold for our liking (bring that temperature up folks!) and the bubbles seemed a bit shy at times so that would be a small criticism there but again, considering the price of our package and what we may have paid in other resorts for a hotel with all these facilities, it’s good value.

Glacier/village
While not specific to the hotel obviously we also found the glacier facilities great and the town charming. It’s not huge nightlife wise but very easy to make your own fun in the village (the Dorf bar in particular) or at the après ski bar at the bottom of the glacier which is very lively indeed – just be careful you don’t go too crazy and miss dinner…I’m not talking from experience…honestly. We rented lockers at the glacier for the week for €40 which meant no humping all our gear back and forward each day.

All in all – we couldn’t recommend the hotel highly enough and we’re already talking about our next trip. Great value for money and very very enjoyable.
