The team were very welcoming and helpful and the hotel was directly on the beach. It's located near one end which in our opinion is a plus. We were concerned about sun bed availability as the hotel offfers them for free for all beach goers but there were always some available.
We stayed on the 3rd floor and our room had a private balcony with an amazing view of the beach. The balcony allowed a view of the sea from our bed. Air conditioning was really good. Our room was tired but this is a budget hotel. There was daily room service and fresh sheets every day...much needed in the humid climate and with the beach on your doorstep.
The food at the hotel was lovely with a reasonable variety on the menu. We stayed B&B and breakfast was adequate. There are numerous restaraunts along the beach, we ate at several! We really recommend Samson's Seafood and the Yellow Cafe too.
There are plenty of places to visit all within a tuk tuk ride. We recommend whale watching which the hotel can arrange for you. And the pretty town of Galle Forte is just along the coast. There are several tea plantations nearby but we recommend travelling a bit further to the Nandana Tea Factory which can still be done via tuk tuk. Entry is free, you get a personalised tour of the grounds, factory and tea tasting with the husband and wife team who are passionate about tea! There is no pressure to buy but they do request if you are happy with their service you consider purchasing from their modest shop. They also threw in a pot of tea as part of the visit.

Difficult to review in detail. We booked 2 days in advance specifying ground floor room for my temporarily wheel chair bound wife. We spoke on the telephone to them and were assured it would be available. On arrival were offered a first floor room up a steep staircase and without the promised sea view.
Cannot review it further as we were left at 6:00 pm to find alternative accommodation. The situation was particularly poor as one of the staff confirmed their ground floor rooms had been let subsequently to our booking.com reservation.
Some of the staff were genuinely apologetic and even embarrassed by their manager’s attempt to get us to pay for drinks we had there while trying to arrange alternative accommodation and his refusal to pay for a tuk-tuk to take us and our wheelchair to a local hotel.
Would therefore recommend potential guests to look elsewhere if they can.

My wife and I spent good part of our two days in Unawatuna beach by the sun-beds of this bar. Although we were not customers of the hotel, the staff was super friendly.
Food and drinks are really cheap and if there is anything you need, staff is always happy to help.

On our last day, my wife and a friend of ours rocked up for a drink around 11 o'clock. Although the bar was about to close, they were happy to serve us :)
Afterwards, the owner of the place joined our table with a full bottle of Arrack and we carried on partying and drinking until 3... the bottle was not full anymore

Great place to spend a couple of relaxing days.
