Booked for two weeks holiday with extended family.
Very private spot away from the tourist crowds and town noise.
Elevated with great views and gets very welcome cooling sea breezes.
Staff cannot do enough for you and even accompanied us on a 2 day tour to act as guides and interpreters.
There is loads to do in the area and the villa is a great base to operate from.
Highly recommend the Far Horizons.
We were a party of 9 with a wide age range and everyone of us loved the villa. It was a perfect place to spend time with family or friends.
The villa was recommended to me by a friend who has visited previously and I am so pleased we decided to book. It's stunning.
Lesley and Ken were fantastic throughout. They were extremely quick in replying to emails, offering advice and giving useful tips.
Ken met us on the day we arrived and Lesley came to say goodbye on the day we left. Lesley arranged our transport to and from the airport and I would recommend doing this. The drivers were excellent and cars very clean.
Upul and Piumi who live opposite the villa and look after you making meals and cleaning etc are simply brilliant. Upul met us with a cold drink and a big smile when we arrived. The food they cooked was incredible. Everything was fresh and cooked from scratch. You just pay for the ingredients and transport to collect it. Nothing was too much trouble and Upul is a mine of information on the area.
The gardener and security guard are also a credit to Lesley and Ken. They keep the grounds and villa immaculate.
There is a large dining area over looking the sea where you have your meals and a large veranda with comfy arm chairs, perfect for relaxing.
The bedrooms are large and very comfortable, 4 of them with sea views. All have a private bathroom.
The infinity pool is just beautiful with comfy loungers around it with cushions on.
There is a walk down to the beach which we did regularly or Upul will book you a tuk tuk to take you there. We often got one back, it's a very cheap mode of transport.
There are many beach bars serving very good food and drink. Cocktails are very cheap and excellent.
Unawatuna has a charm to it with lots of small shops selling clothes, art goods, paintings etc and the people are very friendly.
There are several ATM machines so getting cash was never an issue.
We also went to Galle Fort which is well worth visiting. There are lovely restaurants, again very reasonable.
Upul arranged for us to visit an elephant safari which was worth the 4.30am start!
All in all, a fantastic holiday. Would we return? Absolutely!
A wonderful holiday villa, location and experience, particularly as we were a large family group ages 4 to 60. Transfers to and from the airport were made easy by Lesley. Everything was catered for including arranged tours and a special thanks must go Upul, Piumi and the other staff for making the whole time such a special family occasion. They particularly pulled out all the stops for a surprise 60th birthday celebration that my wife arranged with them.
From the reservation to the day we, unfortunately, had to leave, everything was perfect. Communication is very easy with Lesley, who answered all our questions before we arrived and kindly came with Ken the morning we left to say goodbye and check if our stay had met our expectations.
During the stay at the villa, we could count on Upul and Piumi to take care of everything. Our stay was very short, and we arrived late at night, but Upul did everything possible to ensure that we could maximise our 2 days. We had the opportunity to taste delicious local meals, some of them needing hours of preparation, and we thank him for his efforts and willingness to make our stay so perfect.
The villa itself is amazing. We could have looked at the view of the pool and the bay for hours. Rooms are very large, nicely decorated, spotless and comfortable. The nature around the villa is very exotic, and we were lucky to see and hear monkeys in the trees, peacocks, birds, ...
Highly recommended !
The first thing you notice about this villa after your warm welcome from Lesley, Ken, Upul and Piumi, is the view. It's outstanding. The villa itself is beautifully built and definitely has the WOW factor!
Upul and Piumi treated our group of 11.. ( 9 staying within the villa) as family. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they gladly offered tips and advice on everything ranging from tours to places to eat, shopping etc..
Upul and Piumi definitely kept all of our bellies full with their cooking, from beautiful curries to their magnificent BBQ's. I personally loved the Sri Lankan breakfasts! We loved their cooking so much, we hardly ate out at all!
As for my wedding... Upul sat down with my husband and I and discussed all of our options to make our wedding day special. He even took us ladies into Galle to chose fabric for our saris at very reasonable prices. Upul then measured the men and had their batik outfits made along with the under garments needed for the saris. All up, 6 men and 5 women. He had all of this made in 4 days. On the eve of the wedding and on the day itself, Upul ran between tailors and markets to arrange everything for us. I, myself, had a problem with my arranged hair dresser, but again, Upul came to the rescue and organised a lovely lady to do my hair, who also brought along an exquisite Sri Lankan headpiece for me to wear!
While we were at the ceremony, Upul and Piumi decorated the dining area with flowers and balloons. We were greeted back on arrival with floral necklaces that Upul and Piumi gave to us for a present. We also had an amazing seafood banquet awaiting our arrival. I can't forget to mention the pumpkin soup for our entrée... Everyone wanted the recipe. Last but not least of the evening, Upul and the gardner organised and set up fireworks and they were SPECTACULAR!. Our wedding day was more than we could of hoped for and we owe it mainly to dedication and attention to detail that Upul and his wife showed.
I can't thank them enough for looking after all of us for the week! I wish Ken, Lesley, Upul and Piumi every bit of success! They truly deserve it!
