Perched on the hill, the commanding views from this hotel made me reluctant to leave the room. (Free upgrade - thank you very much! Did we like the flowers on the bed and the massive bathroom? Why, yes we did!)
It is a little unusual - reception is down the bottom and we had to walk up several flights of stairs, but quite lovely. The pool area is an oasis - there was a cow bellowing across the road which somehow added to the ambiance.
Free wifi worked well, and there was an all purpose (including Australian) socket next to the bed.
We walked to Unawatuna for dinner, through a hillside traffic jam due to a full moon festival. It took longer than expected and included a detour through a local village - amused locals pointed out the right way, which was down a goat track. We ended up in a tuk tuk for the last 2km, at which stage we realised we should have taken a tuk-tuk the whole way. Be warned!
Breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. I would have liked the opportunity to try dinner here.
