We were welcomed and provided with cold flannels and cold drinks while we were quickly checked in. Nice rooms around two pools. My daughter was at first provided with a room at a location that was unsatisfactory but changed without any fuss. Wi-Fi is poor in most rooms but you have to go to reception to download items. The Wi-Fi in reception is about 10 Mbps. All the beds have mosquito nets which are easy to manage. You will definitely need an insect spray here which you should not use sparingly. Free safe was available and the a/c was good.
You can walk from the hotel to the nearby sandy beach in about ten minutes. The beach shelves quite sharply and while we were here the sea was choppy. This did not deter my teenage granddaughters from paddling in and getting wet. There were quite a few people swimming further out but there were no lifeguards around. We ate at the beach on each of the three evening we were here. The hotel too, has very good food, especially the pizzas.
From the hotel you can get a Tuk-tuk to the fort at Galle for 300 Rupees. We then took a guided Tuk-tuk tour of the Dutch fort. They also took us on a tour of other places, mostly though where people wanted to sell us something. Including our return journey, this cost us 2000 Rupees per Tuk-tuk.More
