Cocobay is an amazing boutique hotel. The staff offer a very personal approach and go out of their way to make your stay special in every possible way. Rooms are clean and spacious and the food menu is on a par with any hotel chain we've ever been to.

A special mention must go to Dinesha (Front of House) and Reny (Resident Manager) who really are the nicest people you could wish to meet and who always made us feel so welcome.
We will definitely be going back there again in the future.

We had an amazing 6 night stay in Cocobay. Placed in a beautiful location, the rooms were tastefully decorated. We stayed in Acqua marina room with half board with breakfast served until 2:00PM(what a great idea!!). There are also tasty treats placed in the room in the evening.

Starting from the time I reached out to Reny to make reservations and to the countless questions I asked him, every email was patiently replied with all requested details. We had a 2.5 year old naughty one with us so calm beach, lots of entertainement with very little travel was of great importance to us. Cocobay met all of that and more. We are vegetarians and chef Sam was amazing. He would come by everyday and would ask us what we would like to eat..He went above and beyond his duties to make us feel special! I also have to mention Bandhu who was a great staff supervisor and he was always smiles and looked after us like family. Overall the staff were all splendid, took care of us without invading our privacy. We used the tuk tuk booked by the hotel, went on the turtle sanctuary and the udawalawe wildlife with an added trip to the elephant transit home. Dilshaan was our fav tuk tuk driver and waited on us through our shopping and turtle sanctuary trip. We saw wildlife in the beach too...hermit crabs were galore, with cute guppies in the hotel itself! Big shout out to the wonderful people who work at this resort (Vipul, the front desk staff who spoke hindi so well(sorry forgot ur name!!) and others as well)...Thank you for making our stay so memorable!! We will be back...:-)...

We stayed at CoCo Bay for 3 days/2 nights on a long weekend trip to Galle. It was perfect! The rooms were spacious and clean and the Aqua Romance pool with our own little plunge pool was amazing. The private beach was peaceful and clean and perfect for watching the sunset each night. The staff were friendly and helpful with arranging a birthday BBQ and cake for my husband and all tried to make it very special. The local is ideal, as you're right between Galle and Unawatuna, so it's a cheap tuk tuk ride to go to many places around town. The food menu was full of local and Western dishes and everything we had was excellent. The fresh juice at breakfast each day was my favorite.

My only suggestion would be for the staff to provide some guidance on what tourists should expect to pay for things. For example, many tuk tuk drivers gave us a much higher quote for a ride to the fort while others were much cheaper. It was hard to gauge the going rate for some of these things, so that guidance would be helpful.

Thank you for the lovely stay!

This is a super little beach hotel. Very bespoke and personal in its approach; a million miles away from a large corporate chain.

The views are stunning from all the rooms and particularly from our second floor room. You watch the sun set onto a mirrored ocean as you sit on your balcony.

Very well situated between Galle and Unawatuna Beach, incredibly easy to take a Tuk Tuk to either, for around $2.

The Bed and Breakfast option I would suggest is a must, fresh local fruits and a good option for your start to the day. Toast, croissant fresh juices all available each morning as well as a cooked option.

Exploring the local area for dinner was great, some hit and miss experiences! A few hits were Bedspace, The Bungalow and One Minute by Tuk Tuk. Opinions vary of course, we felt these served fantastic food and well priced. However, don’t rush out every night as the chief here is clearly a talented man and cooked simply delightful fresh and locally sourced food too!

The spa is not on site! Yet if you wanted a massage a little Tuk Tuk is arranged for you to be taken to a local ladies home presented well for this service. We didn’t go but other guests said it was a pleasant experience.

The gym is small with limited equipment, not the resort for you if you are serious about your training.

The staff are relaxed in their approach so be prepared to adapt to that beach hotel vibe.

A lovely clean pool, private beach in a secluded and private location, coupled with plenty of places to relax on the sea front or on the loungers.

Are we happy we booked? Overall, yes. Beautiful.

We had an 11-day tour of the Island and three nights at the Coco Bay. An excellent hotel, large rooms with balconies or terraces (if on ground floor), views over the dining area and the sea. We had a jacussi in the bathroom but it is such a waste of water. We dined on the beach area and found the food excellent. Staff as we found all over was superb. Swimming in the sea is good but one has to wade out a bit far to find deeper waters. Great fun was watching the "invasion" of crabs on the beach in the evening. Grounds were very well manicured. So nice was the good-bye wish the staff had put on our bed the last night (see photos).

Room Tip: All have sea views. Those on first floor have a balcony while those on ground floor have a terrace, some with a private wading pool.
