We popped in for dinner 2 times while we were in Unawatuna & we loved it. Susanthe & her daughter were very welcoming, friendly & a great sense of humour. The food was prepared as we ordered & very yummy. The restuarant is on the first floor up the steps so we could look over the balcony & watch the world go by, including the tuk tuks & monkeys in the trees. Lovely setting, clean & friendly. Thanks Susanthe & also to your daughter who is lovely.

Thank Caroline L

We went there after reading the TA opinions, and the restaurant is quite average. Nothing special. Small portions for the price you pay and slow service. Good things: excellent curry dishes and no 10% extra charge on the bill (probably included in the menu?). As said, nothing special to be on the top 3 in Unawatuna.

We had a fantastic afternoon cooking sri lankan food. We went together with the cooking teacher to the market and Gott the food we wanted to prepair. We made our own coconut milk and used it for prepairing our currys. I reccomend the cooking class for everyone! It's also possible to eat in the Restaurant. The food was so fresh and delicious. Highly reccomendation. For me a secret spot in unawatuna!

I had a very good experience here - our teacher, Susanthi, is a wonderful cook with excellent English and a great sense of humour!

We started with a trip to Galle (transport included) and went to a spice shop and vegetable market. We then went to a fish market but Susanthi was not convinced by the freshness of the fish on the day after Poya, so we opted for chicken instead.

The teaching was relaxed and informative, with opportunities to make notes and photos as we went along. All the ingredients were fresh and we learnt about various health benefits/ combinations/ spice mixes and traditional ways of cooking from scratch and cooked 9 dishes in total.

It was the best meal I’ve had in Sri Lanka so far, and it was also a beautiful terrace to learn in surrounded by trees. Green mango curry and aubergine salad were the best!

Found this on trip advisor it was actually better than I thought as the reviews I’ve found on trip advisor have been unreliable in Sri Lanka. The class also involves a trip in a tuk tuk to the market to buy fish, another market (original Dutch building) for the vegetables and spices, very enjoyable.
The kitchen is airy clean and pleasant to cook in. We cooked 5 vegetable curries and 3 fish, in the price is offered a choice of 1, bit we wanted to try cooking crab and prawns, so we paid for these ourselves (negotiated by chef )so very inexpensive.
Can certainly recommend this little gem.
