We stayed here over Christmas for a change from our usual jaunt back to the uk. I think I will stay here every Christmas from now on!!! Lobsters and grilled prawns to die for and such wonderfully accommodating staff. Not a soggy brussel sprout in site here!!! There was never a moment that I didn't have a frozen daquari in my hand! Stunning location, superb design and simply a home away from home to relax, recharge and enjoy. I'm planning on going back in June and I'm counting down the days.
I had the pleasure of staying here in February and have been meaning to write a review for some time about my wonderful experience.
Situated on a serene stretch of beach on the southern tip of Sri Lanka, this is the perfect spot for anyone looking to escape the chaos of modern life, recharge and relax in a peaceful setting. The long sandy beach, lined with palm trees is protected by headlands, making it ideal for swimming and the stunning infinity pool on the terrace is really the perfect place to unwind.
The property is decorated in a contemporary style with a hint of Sri Lankan tradition and everything is really impeccably finished down to the very last detail both inside and out.
What really made our trip so special though, was the personalised service of Ash and the Foh team, for whom nothing was too much trouble. The meals cooked by the in-house chef, from local ingredients and fresh seafood from the area were truly delicious.
If you ever do feel like venturing out of this paradise (which you might not!) there are plenty of places to explore in the area such as the neighboring surf spot, Hiriketiya Bay or the Sea Turtle Sanctuary ( though be sure to book ahead as local conservation regulations only allow visitors at certain times).
Would love to come back again!
Stayed here for a few days over the Christmas period. Situated just off the main road with easy access to a few small shops but you will not need to visit them as the service at the villa is top class. From the meals prepared by the chef to the waiter and even housekeeping staff, all your needs are extremely well looked after.
The pool is massive and great for those lazy days. Overlooking what must be the best section of the stretch of beach which is ideal for long sunrise or sunset walks along the bay.
Would definitely stay there again.
The Lookout is very cleverly positioned in an area that provides for complete privacy and an almost (very quite) private beach literally on your doorstep (With a gorgeous pool to overlook a quintessential sri lanka postcard backdrop). Whilst at the same time being a convenient 2 minute tuc tuc from Hirikitiya (a.k.a Blue Bay) Bay that offers more action with surf schools, cafes, and a spectrum of waves for the beginner through to more advance surfer.
The villa itself has been well thought out and beautifully designed an furnished. A luxurious space that is pet friendly and enough square footage to comfortably allow even for larger families and/or groups of couples.
The hand picked (and exceptionally well trained staff) are what really make the difference here. The kitchen are capable of a variety of dishes and cuisines and especially skilled serving traditional Sri Lanka plates (highly recommend their freshly caught sea food specials). The head butler is knowledgeable, polite and understands the right balance of presence according to your tastes.
The Lookout is also located in the stunning Southern tip of the country that has not yet been over developed and still a practical distance to other nearby attractions (both waves and historical areas of interest).
Couldn't recommend the Lookout more.
The Lookout in DIckwella is an amazing place to stay. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by owner Nicola and housekeeper Ash who provided amazing hospitality throughout our stay and made us feel truly welcomed.
If you love luxury and the finer things in life, personalised service and privacy- then this is for you.
The villa is located on the beautiful Dikwella Beach, around 3 hours from the capital. Nicola has used her impeccable taste to create a beach house with stunning interiors, thoughtful decor and real character. The accents and decorations really speak to guests and remind them of the beach location & Sri Lanka's heritage with old photos, vintage maps and traditional decorations such as the Buddha statue greeting you as you enter.
The house is brand new, and all finishes have been executed to ensure perfection. The pool is the best place to spend your day lounging around, with the housekeeper Ash bringing you cocktails and snacks as you desire which are all cooked by the in-house chef.
The chef himself is amazing, creating traditional Sri lankan cuisine such as curries & breakfast dish hoppers which are a MUST TRY, down to seafood feasts of fresh produce gathered from the market that day and on your plate for dinner.
The beach is deserted and wonderful for privacy, and great for surfers, windsurfers and swimming. Walk 15 mins over to the next beach Hiriketiya full of surfers, cute little beach hut restaurants selling food & drinks or renting surf boards.
This property would be ideal for WEDDINGS, CONFERENCES, FAMILY VACATIONS and GROUP HOLIDAYS- with The Lookout catering to 12 people & its next door counterpart under the same roof also the same.
