The Birch Grove was the only option for us to eat after arriving in St. George following a long drive from Massachusetts. I had the fish chowder which was nice and buttery and packed with light white fish. The best part of the meal was the warm gingerbread with caramel sauce and whipped cream - yum.
This restaurant closes at 8 so get there early.

The prices are higher than the 2014 flyer that is floating around, but they are still quite good, particularly considering the quality and quantity of food you get. There is a broad selection to choose from, including many breaded, fried seafood options, and also many non-sea choices. But save space for dessert! Their pies are renowned, and all of those we tried (apple, peanut butter, butterscotch) were satisfying. The downside of going later in the day is that they may not have your pie of choice remaining!

We live in Saint John but always find the drive worthwhile and have a great meal. Food is hot, tasty. The pies, rolls and bread oudding are terrific!

Nice, welcoming restaurant with many local people eating here. We ordered the fish dish (clams, haddock) but unfortunately everything was battered and deep fried. This is not our taste because the frying takes away the taste of the fish.
Sorry we did not get a chance to another dish, because it really seemed a nice place.

Expected normal deep fried options and frozen ingredients. Pies are homemade with flaky crusts. Lobster was ordered with reservations, as we had been sampling throughout PEI. This was up to par. I would order again. Fish chowder was hearty. Good value and tasty-it is not seafood chowder. Fried items were generous. If you want fried haddock, clams, etc. You hit the jackpot. Very casual service but polite and friendly. Do not expect gourmet fare, just honest food and terrific value.
