This is a cheapskate hotel.
Reservation at 4* prices does not include use of the advertised pools, gym or spa facilities. Prices were quoted as starting at 20Euros per person even for a quick dip or brief workout.
The mattress compared badly to that of the previous night where the room price was half.
The views advertised are, of course, only available from selected rooms. More than half have a view of buildings.
The coffee in the room comes without milk of any kind and cheap crockery of different sizes.
Internet codes are not given out without requesting them.
Hotel information is out of date or not available.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel to get more bang for your buck

Old infrastructure, average buffet style kitchen but service driven personnel and amazing views from the balcony
Nice swimming pool and very nearby both beaches. (2min walking distance)
A fair price value destination in a very turistic area.

Stayed here recently for a family wedding in La Manga. The pool area was really good and clean, but the rest of the hotel left a lot to be desired. This really isn't a 4-star hotel. The rooms were way too small for what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel, particularly when travelling with a child. Hardly any electrical sockets in the rooms, which is a real pain when 3 of you are trying to charge up phones, iPads etc. These are my main issues with the hotel:

- No room service
- No putting drinks on the room to pay later
- Only 1 iron in the whole hotel...and no ironing board to speak of (not great when all your clothes have been creased up in transit).
- Not enough electrical sockets.
- Food really not as good as you'd expect at a reasonable hotel.
- Poor sized room & very basic.
- only 2 lifts in the hotel (a real pain when half the hotel is trying to use them). They are painfully slow too.

On the plus side, the staff were really friendly and eager to help. It really wouldn't be enough to bring me and my family back though. Really not impressed by this hotel. Oh, it did have WiFi too though.

Dear Client,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions about our property and be sure they will help us to improve the quality of service offered to our clients. We are very sorry you have found our rooms too small but allow me to inform you that our rooms are above average in relation to what the legislation requires to grant category 4 stars.

Perhaps our main failure has been not being able to give you accurate information about our services. We do have room service, with an extra charge, as informed in the welcome letter you receive when checking-in at the front desk on your arrival.

Regarding the matter of the iron and the ironing board allow me to inform you that the hotel offers a laundry service to all our customers and all the information regarding that service (prices & conditions) is located in each room. If for any reason clients cannot use that service we do have several irons which we lend, free of charge, to our customers in case an emergency may arise. We do not offer the service of iron and ironing board free of charge for every room.

Nevertheless we take note of all your suggestions and we appreciate you have taken the time to let us know your impressions about our property.

We thank you again for your comments and suggestions and hope to welcome you again at HOTEL & SPA MANGALAN.

Yours sincerely,
Mónica Zaragoza
Manager

I've been in this hotel with my family and it was absolutely fantastic. They have a well equipped spa where you can relax a bit (though aroma sauna was out of order). I think they could add some infusions and candles. The room is great, spacious and has a lovely see view (a tip: ask a room with a view onto Mar Menor). The room was cleaned every day and we were provided with a shampoo, shower gel and soap once they were over (it wasn't just a welcome pack like in the most hotels). The food in the restaurant varied and was tasty (we think they should provide a wider range of products during breakfast; most things were sweet). The outdoor installations were well maintained (always clean). They have a small pool for the kids, a normal swimming pool and two jacuzzis. There is also a lifeguard just in case. The staff (all of them) is very nice, polite and frindly. We love this place as there are no foreigners and you can really feel you are in Spain! The location is great - close to the bus stop, supermarket, two beaches, cafes and retsaurants. This hotel is mainly for the adults so not much animation, but it wasn't a problem for us at all as we wanted calm holidays. The only thing we didn't like was that we came at night and we received a picnic, but on the day of our departure we weren't allowed to eat lunch. We don't think it's ok as a picnic which consists of a banana, little salad, pate, little bottle of water and roll, isn't equivalent to lunch which includes fish, meat, salads, soups, cakes, etc. We don't think the hotel would suffer much as there is lots of food and we're sure lots of it gets into trash. What's more we paid for the half board, so we think we should also be allowed to eat lunch on our last day without any additional cost. On the whole, I would recommend this hotel for the adults.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view onto Mar Menor, preferably the 8th floor
