We had a (free) upgrade from a standard room to a superior one. Nice room in the garden, next to the swimming pool. VERY hard bed (but that is a question of taste). Very small safe deposit box in the wardrobe. Fridge in the same wardrobe (makes everything hot). Bunch of metal cloth hangers right from the cleaner's shop, worthless for hanging up clothes. EXTREMELY small shower in the bathroom, impossible to turn around while washing without bumping into the wall. Useless hair dryer, because too far from the mirror. Efficient airco, but too noisy for the night. Breakfast very basic, but OK. One morning no breakfast left at 9.00 AM (a large group has plundered the buffet). Attention: staff's knowledge of English is very limited (except for Sebastiana!). Very beautiful swimming pool, but almost useless shower (hardly any water and very dirty ground). Location: 20 minute walk from the center and the harbor, but very quiet.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are in the garden and are larger than standard.

In Vulcano Island the best place to stay is Orsa Magiore. This charming hotel is very close to the Vulcano path that makes the place ideal for family walks around the place and close to the Vulcano even going up to it. Be aware the strong Sulfure smell all over the island but this is not that terrible one gets used to it very fast. The hotel has an outside swimming pool area and some family rooms close to it on the ground floor. There are also family rooms upstairs inside the hotel itself very spacious and the Children can get their own space because the division of the place allows it. We just think it is very good thought and build for families. Restaurant is also very good, their fish and orangine alla sepia were delicious. We had a wonderful family stay there and the stuff very friendly, helpful and is used to treat children so they loved this place!

Stayed here as a family for 3 nights and had a fabulous stay.
The pool area was fantastic - recently refurbished.
Family rooms were quite big - with a separate area for the kids single beds.
Breakfast was very nice and substantial.
We booked the rooms some time in advance so got a really good price for summer.
Note that wifi is not really reachable in the rooms and pool area - only the sitting area near reception. This was perfectly fine for us to have some technology free time.
Good location - only a 15-20 minute walk to the port.
Had some issues with the hydrofoils being cancelled the morning we left, so the staff were more than happy to come and pick us up and bring us back to the hotel for a few hours while we waited for the hydrofoils to resume.
Would definitely stay here again.

Vulcano is a 1-2 day trip where climbing to the top go the volcano for sunset is a must! Orsa Maggiore is within walking distance from the 1 hour trek to the summit. The pool area was an amazing oasis. Just a very relaxing place, and the staff were extremely friendly and nice. The little touches like a fresh espresso upon arrival, to include a room upgrade were just all nicely received. The restaurant is simple but ok. Lunch is light and fresh, and dinner was average but nice service.
