You will have to do a bit of walking, but try to stay in the new wing of the hotel. I was told that they are going to renovate the old wing to match the new standard. My room was huge, and comfortable, WiFi and breakfast were also great. Staff was friendly and competent. The light switches were just too complicated.

The rooms in the new wing of the building are really great. Perfect "modern" German design with lots of room and cool details. We had a "Junior" suite with a patio and enjoyed it very much. We had friends that stayed in the older part of the hotel and said it was rather cramped and outdated - but that is not true of the new rooms. Get them if you can!

There is also a fantastic top floor with a sauna, pool, and relaxation/spa area. It's not crowded and perfect for spending some time alone.

The restaurant is also quite good with a great breakfast included in the room rate. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Room Tip: Suites in the new building are definitely the best.

This hotel is located well for visiting the dam and having a walk.
Parking in a Wednesday night can be hard in the summer months as there are events on the dam but this gives a great atmosphere.
I didn't use the hotel restaurant so can't comment. It did though always seem busy.

Staff at the desk seemed ok.

The room was ok. It was in the old building. Your paying for location if you are in this building.

The beds are comfy enough and it has the facilities you need.

Probably would try the hotel again if I could be located in the newer building.

Stayed here for business trip as it was half way between Guxhagen and Dusseldorf.
The hotel is a mixture of old and new, an older more German architecture building next to a very modern building, both beautiful in there own way.
The reception and restaurant is in the older building along with hotel rooms and further rooms and the spa and swimming pool is in the newer building.
The location is beautiful and overlooks a beautiful dam. The lake is very large and you can drive all way way around the lake. the drive around it reasonably flat and has its own bike path and is immersed in woodland as far as the eye could see. There are plenty of restaurants close by but did not try any of them.
The rooms in the old block were very nice and look modern inside but the doors to each room are a bit dated and require an old style big key to get in. I stayed in room 221 and the bathroom door had an older door on it as it had the number 6 on it !
All amenities in the room were good, however this is the 1st hotel room I have stayed in where a small bottle of lotion / moisturiser was no available. It was the only time I really needed it after visiting the sauna and surprised it was not available considering the hotel has a spa.
I did not get to see the hotel rooms in the new building but from the outside they looked very modern.
New spa area is gorgeous with many comfy loungers inside and out, a heated outdoor pool on the 4th floor looking out to the dam / lake. There is also a sauna and numerous style showers. Please bare in mind that this is a very German style sauna so no clothes needed ! we arrived, looked up to the 4th floor and through the glass windows and saw people in their birthday suits !!!
Overall it is a beautiful area with lovely food. Please note that this hotel has no bar and drinks have to be ordered from the restaurant.
I never saw Germany as a holiday destination until I arrived at this hotel and area.

Beautyful and charming Hotel. Friendly and helpful employees. A warm welcome. Every guest was guided to the room. Excellent Dinner. I will come back. This is the greatest hotel in the area of Sauerland.

Room Tip: Take a loft with a view to the lake.
