The convenient location is the highlight of this accommodation. Walking distance to lots of eating options and a supermarket and nearby train station
It feels like the place needs a complete makeover as well as a really good clean.
Limited onsite car parking

The biggest advantage of this hotel is its location. It takes only couple of minutes with the train to the city center. Train station is just couple of steps from the hotel. Opposite the train station is very good coffee where you can have also breakfast as the breakfast in the hotel is continental only (no warm food such as eggs etc.)
The room is big enough but with only one cupboard. When two girls travel, it's really not enough. What surprised me was, that there was none mirror in the room (just one in the bathroom). Maybe we were not lucky, but our fridge was very noisy, so we had to switch it off on the night.
We had room on the ground floor which is maybe the reason why we could not open the window. Even if we were there in March, it happened that the room was very cold.
Wi-fi was working very good during the whole stay.

This aging relic in the midst of ultra expensive old and new money has has more conversions than those caused by the Spanish Inquisition. Staying here is like sleeping over at the home of an aging aunt - after she's been moved into aged care.

All the charm of a once grand Aussie home of substance with well worn built in ensuite into what must have been a charming front room or study. Himalayan high ceilings, 1950s carpet and paper thin walls.

Not horrible, but needing some love in the form of capital investment by the owners who seem to be doing quite nicely thank you very much. I'd hate to be asleep onsite in an emergency. Oh, and did I forget to mention the train line right next door?

This place is in a great inner city location a very short walk from the railway station and a slightly longer walk to the tram line.
Staff are friendly, albeit not that in tune with their local area.
I asked where I could get a beer, and was directed to Woolies, but no real idea on where it was.....the Bush Inn is a short 2-3min walk, on the nearest major intersection.

Toorak Manor is in a great location, walking distance to Toorak Road and across the road from Hawksburn Station. The building needs some TLC but is full of old world charm. Parking can be a tight squeeze, but it is free. Breakfast options are very basic, so if you have dietary requirements then best to check ahead. You will receive a text message on the day of check in with the access code in case you arrive after 5 when the front door and reception are shut. Once inside, your room key will be in a box on the table. Unless you call ahead, there will only be one key waiting for you. It also means that if you are not happy with your room, there is little chance of doing anything about it. Again, call ahead if you wish to check.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room upstairs at the rear of the building and call ahead to confirm it is what you will get.
