“Superb place to stay”
Reviewed 23 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We fell in love with Mallaig, mostly due to the accommodation which was amazing, with its stunning views of the harbour and the Isles of Skye, Rum and Eigg. The white sandy beaches are beautiful and very good for boys to let off steam! The accommodation is excellent and of a very high standard. A lovely touch was the bottle of wine and bread left for us from Siobhan. Thank you for a wonderful stay at your beautiful bungalow. We hope to come back one day.

“"Wow! I Can't Stop Looking At The Views"”

We stayed from the 22/10/16 too 29/10/16 and these were the words I said to my wife the first morning at Davaar after arriving the night before in the dark, we were all captivated by the place. We stayed with our two daughters, their partners and our 12 year old grandson. There was plenty of room with 4 bedrooms and 2 lounges, both with loveley views over Mallaig and across to Skye, Rhum and Eigg. The decking area is ideal for taking photographs and I took some great shots of sunrise and sunset looking out to the islands and over the harbour. The property looked impressive on the Trip Advisor site, but really didn't prepare us for the spaciousness and facilities, yet still with a warm cosy feel. Another reviewer described it as a home away from home and we agree with these sentiments. Siobhan had a welcome pack waiting for us, a nice touch and much appreciated after leaving Lincoln at 7.30 am and arriving at 7.00 pm due to heavy traffic on the way up.
The facilities in Mallaig are all you need with a Co Op and a Spar Shop for supplies and several eating places. We used the Steam Inn and the Chlachain Inn where the service was excellent and the food was good value (recommend the cullen skink), we also had a fish supper from "The Cabin" on our last night.
For rainy days there is a swimming pool in Mallaig, but we didn't use it. There is also the Glenfinnan viaduct as featured in Harry Potter behind the Glenfinnan visitor centre that tells the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie who raised his standard in Glenfinnan to start the Jacobite rebellion that culminated at the battle of Culloden.
We went to the Glencoe visitor centre and Fort Augustus on a couple of days when it rained, but spent most of our time on the beach at Camasdarach as featured in the films "Highlander" and "Local Hero" (my all time favourite film). You need to look out for a small car park on the left just past the Camasdarach camp site as you head towards Mallaig. We also saw the "Hary Potter" train in at Mallaig station.
We have holidayed in Scotland some 25 times since 1991, normally staying at a pine lodge at Drumnadrochit each October. We generally do about 2 -2500 miles on a weeks holiday in Scotland. On this holiday we did 1200 miles! We loved the area so much we did not want to venture far.
Would we go back? Definitely.

“Outstanding”

This is an exceptionally comfortable and cozy cottage with outstanding views over the Sound of Sleat to the Isles of Skye, Rum and Eigg. It is very well equipped with all home comforts and a great place to relax with friends and family. The only minor concern was the height of the front door steps which are very high and difficult for the less able bodied, we did however find it much easier using the steps on to the decking and going in by the side entrance.
