“Splendid setting and a great place to explore the West Highlands”
Reviewed 3 August 2018 for a stay in July 2018

I stayed at Ardchoille Croft for a week at the end of July. My party was two adults and three teens. We all enjoyed the setting and particularly the property’s open plan kitchen/dining area and the good-sized decking area skirting its front. An extra bathroom or cloakroom would have made it even better but we managed fine. We did have a couple of issues with the plumbing, temporarily losing access to hot water which wasn’t ideal. The owners, Theresa & Donald were very responsive and explained what was happening and a bottle of wine from them was a nice touch in recognition of the inconvenience.

The area around the property was full of interest to all of us and offered lots of options during a week of mixed weather. Highlights were an informal walk along the Silver Sands beach; a boat trip from Arisaig to Eig and Rum; a day on Skye via the Mallaig car ferry; the ‘Harry Potter’ train passing by four times a day; and the excellent (if a little pricey) Bakehouse in the town for sour dough loaves, croissants, pizzas and more.

I can certainly recommend this well-priced property and would suggest that reading its logbook at the start of your stay would be time well spent as it is full of useful suggestions from previous visitors.

“Fantastic cottage in a great location”
Reviewed 12 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We had a wonderful stay at Ard Choille croft - the cottage was very comfortable, spacious, and spotlessly clean. The owners were very helpful, answering lots of questions before we arrived. Our three young children had a great time, with lots to explore from the doorstep, including visiting Alice the pig, and an easy walk up to the beautiful Loch Nostarie. The Jacobite steam train (or Hogwarts Express as far as my kids are concerned!) passing by every day made the holiday extra special, and the owners have really made the most of the fabulous views and train spotting opportunities with a lovely big deck and great outside space. Location was perfect for us - very close to the amenities of Mallaig (local shops, pubs, cafes and boat trips etc etc), but still felt very much away from it all. Fabulous beaches and walks all within easy reach. Could not recommend this place highly enough - we hope to be back soon!

“Fabulous base for a West Highland Adventure”
Reviewed 17 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We had a wonderful stay at the Ardchoille Croft and would highly recommend this holiday rental for a base when exploring Mallaig and the surrounding area. The garden and deck was just perfect for sitting in the sun.

“Loved the steam train, home from home comforts and the great location.”

Thank you Theresa for a wonderful stay in Ard choille. We had a great time and would like to come back again and explore more of the area. The house is just great. modern but still with a sense of it's history, warm and welcoming. Our two little ones loved the steam train going by, and so did we.
There is so much to do in the area, with ferry trips from bustling Mallaig to all the small islands and Skye, that we will look forward to coming back for boat trips to Knoydart and beyond. If you want a comfortable and very well equipped house with lovely views and close to the silver sands of Morar, then this is for you.
Loads of places to eat and drink in Mallaig and Arisaig along with the local swimming pool to keep families entertained if it does rain.
