Had a lovely walk through stunning autumnal scenery which despite large footfall was quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately the experience was marred by the poor cafe which is just not big enough for such a popular attraction. May I suggest that you need to enlarge the cafe in order to attract even more people to stop and try the excellent, but limited fare.

Not been here for about 10 years not much has changed, but in a way lots has.... Trees I remember have grown soooo much and new areas have been opened up like the extended car park and new viewing tower which in my opinion is pointing the wrong way... Personally I think it should be the other side of the hill pointing at the lake... Also at the start you are pointed at the snack shop and if you buy food and you walk round there are a lack of bins... Very odd... Also a little upset the time on the sign outside says one time the car park is closing but then after you pay there is another sign saying it closes sooner...

Even on an autumn’s day when footfall is higher than normal, you can still find a quiet path to walk down. Kids love it with trees to climb on and leaves to kick up whilst they walk. We have a dog which had to be kept n a relatively short leash but she loved meeting other dogs out on their walk.

The only gripe is the queue at the refreshments hut and the slightly disorganised nature of it. However as the site is manned by volunteers I don’t grumble a lot and we’re always grateful for a cuppa after a long walk.

Wonderful colourful Winkworth is amazing autumn time! Sun was shining, sat on the bench by the boathouse and admired the beauty of nature!

Spent a good few hours at this beautiful arboretum. The price for entry was reasonable. Only one set of toilets near the beginning of the walk. Cafe was basic which we expected based on other reviews. We picniced with our own hot food flask of soup and bread which was wonderfully enjoyed in the beautiful setting. There are benches dotted around the trail which came in useful. Three routes were recommended: easy (blue), intermediate (yellow) or challenging (red). With young kids (4 years) we went for the yellow. Perfectly do-able. The autumn leaves provided a lovely setting. Would definately recommend a visit on a sunny autumn day (eg. end of oct).
