“Excellent for a short get away (without kids!)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2012

Just returned from a four night break here with hubby. Left the four kids at home and had a fantastic time! Were glad we didn't have the kids with us, as there's not that much there to keep them busy compared to other places we've been to. BUT, weather fantastic, rooms spotless, service great. Food plentiful if slightly bizarre (Brussels sprouts at breakfast!! and it wasn't even Boxing Day). Evening entertainment useless (not the hubby you understand, although he wasn't up to much after a day at the all inclusive bar either). Just don't expect 5 star entertainment.

Hotel v short transfer from airport - bonus. Hotel on direct flight path - not so much of a bonus. Did get woken up most mornings by a 747. However, would still rate this place very highly for a real chill out, adult escape - no complaints from us, we'd g back to tomorrow!!

Ive just got back from a !!wonderful!! 5 night stay at Sandos, First of all, I have to complement the staff, they certainly make your stay something to remember, we were given a lunch voucher for our final day and a free courtesy room (usually chargeable), an iron was with us within minutes, top ups of drinks without even asking... the staff truly have a passion for their jobs, nothing was too much and its something us Brits should learn from!! So, the rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious and boutique. The layout of the 5 pools (which were clear and inviting) were dotted around to give you a choice of a quiet location or the bustling central pool bar location. On that note there were family areas and Adult areas both for the pools and for dining. The food offered good choice with lots of drink. We were also offered a complimenmtary evening meal at the La Pora, the a la carte restaurant... 4 courses later, we were very impressed and set in a lovely sport overlooking the ocean. the hotel overall was very impressive and nicely designed, the guests of the hotel next door looked over in envy (Vincci Hotel). Other shops and a selecion of restaurants were within 5 minutes walking distance (not that you needed to leave the complex). Probably one of the best hotels on the island!

This hotel is of good quality with excellently laid out rooms and facilities. It is well positioned close to the airport( Tenerife South ) and aircraft noise is heard but is not obtrusive.
The food is excellent and of good quality and variety. All staff were extremely professional and friendly and efifcient.

The room quality was as good as a decent London hotel, with good fittings and bathroom. Room cleaning was excellent.

There are ample sunbeds spread over the many pool areas.

The all inclusive package was good value.
The environmental reserve next door was worth a visit.

Talikng to Mr Victor Gil the assistant manager it was obvious that his professionalism and enthusiasm to provide a top class service is shared by all his staff.

Okay, it was windy, hence the title, but overall this is an very good hotel. We stayed in a junior suite which we were a little apprehensive about booking because we could find very little information about the size, layout and facilities of this type of room. It exceeded our expectations. The suite had a large 'master' bedroom which you will see numerous photos of on this site and an adjoining lounge area through partition doors (basically we had 2 rooms) which had its own good sized en-suite. Our 11 year old slept in the lounge on a roll in single bed, which was comfortable enough but could have been better. We had two balconies overlooking the beach and the lower pool area and a twin sun lounger on the balcony where we were sheltered from the wind and prying eyes (we were on the top floor)...5 stars all round!
The maid service was a bit hit-and-miss as on one occaision one of the cleaners was only in the room for 5 minutes, left a pile of swept up dirt on the bedroom floor, did not replace the toiletries and was basically not very thorough. The other cleaner we had was superb however, so this was only a minor gripe.

Food choice in the main buffet was varied enough to keep everyone fed well, including the aforementioned fussy 11 year old. And again the service in there was a bit and miss varying from very attentive and pleasant to being completely ignored (this happened only one time and by one waiter). The a la carte (one 'free' visit) had a limited but good choice of dishes. We were given a wine list which we had to pay for and they failed to mention there was the free house wine available. I'm fussy when it comes to wine but their house white was the best I have ever had at an all inclusive so a major thumbs up from me there and I would have had that rather than pay 14 euros for a mediocre bottle in the a la carte. Lovely view there too, great service and modern surroundings.

The hotel can't do anything about the wind as this is the windiest part of the island but at times it was quite refreshing and at other times prohibitive in terms of swimming, sunbathing. etc. If you get lucky with the weather and your room you will be in a very good all-inclusive hotel. The heated pool was just the right temperature and not too crowded. Pilar, who worked the pool bar was fantastic as was Penelope who seemed to pop up everywhere.

We loved our free bus trip into Playa de las Americas which was much nicer than we expected...lovely, clean and well manicured public areas and a wide range of shops and restaurant.

Room Tip: Go for a junior suite on the thrid floor overlooking the pool. We were in 335/336 in A block---fant...

Went with my husband for break after the winter. Really enjoyed it. Stumped up for junior suite which we reckon was well worth the extra money. The beds are nice and big and comfortable and the glass bathroom was a talking point ( close the shutters but put a light on at night or youll never find it in the dark!) The staff are really helpful and the food is of good quality and plenty of it! There's not much to do outside the hotel. The nearest local village sports an abandoned half built hotel in the middle. Testament to bad economic times.
You can see and hear the planes coming and going from the airport but the disruption is less than a minute at a time which was not a problem for us at all and is only once an hour or so.
We took the free shuttle into Playa de las Americas a couple of times.. It goes out at 10.00 and back at 5pm so we got a taxi one way which is about 20 euros.
On our last night we asked who would go back again and our group all said they would so that probably covers it....
We did the La Proa restaurant which was nice but not exceptional, my husband reckoned his steak had died after a long happy life so was as tough as old boots an opinion reiterated by people we met the following day. The duck was fine.. It was nice not to have a buffet so enjoy it for that.
I did not much like Los Cristianos or Las Americas which are full of English pubs my idea of misery! but the jewellery was fun...

Room Tip: Pay extra for the suite! The rooms are much bigger and you get two bathrooms. Ideal for families
