Amazing views over the caldera

Review of Afroessa Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 14 Sept 2017via mobile
We stayed at this hotel in August 2017 for 4 nights. The hotel is really beautiful with amazing views over the Caldera. Our room was well equipped, service was great and the food from the restaurant was very good. Pool is not large but similar sized to other hotels located on the Caldera.

The only negative is that I felt that the staff discouraged us from going to Oia to watch the sunset due to the crowds even though this is arguably the most iconic thing to do in Santorini.

Imerovigli is a very quiet area so if you are looking for activity this is not the area to stay.

My fiancé and I had the pleasure of staying at the Afroessa Hotel. Everything at the hotel was top notch. The staff, the service, food, drinks and overall cleanliness of the hotel were very impressive. If you are looking for a place on Santorini not as loud or busy as Fira or Oia then I highly recommend staying in Imerovigli at the Afroessa Hotel.

We went all over the island and the view the Afroessa provides is second to none. The sunset is breathtaking. You can see the stars when the sun goes down as well.

The staff made reservations for us at multiple places. Set up shuttle service to and from the airport/port. Helped us with our bags. Answered any questions we had. They smiled and wished us well each time we saw them and I could tell the genuinely meant it. This is hospitality at its finest.

If our travels ever take us to Santorini in the future, we will book the Afroessa Hotel again. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The only regret I have is we could not stay there forever.

Our time in Santorini wouldn't have been as special if we didn't get to indulge in the magical sunset and caldera views from the comfort of our hotel. I'm really glad we stayed here. Really lovely staff, clean room and fab location!

We had an amazing stay here for our honeymoon. Thanks especially to Mary and Edy, which were fun to be around and extremely helpful at all times. Breakfast and diner at the hotel were great, and the spot, the spot...

I can't fault this hotel. First of all, the staff are incredible. Very helpful and knowledgeable and go out of their way to accommodate your needs. From the apartment, you have a direct view of the sunset, so you can sit on your balcony, order room service and watch the sunset from a fantastic view. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times, and each time we were very impressed with the quality of the food, and also very reasonably priced compared to surrounding restaurants. There is a lovely view from the restaurant so you can have your dinner and look out towards the volcano or you can also order it to your room. I'd recommend the full Greek breakfast (see photo) and if going for desert, the deep fried ice-cream is delicious. We were late going for dinner one evening and even though the kitchen was closed, they still offered to make us a salad. It's very very peaceful at this hotel and the staff are extremely friendly. Mary was very helpful at the front desk in giving information about the surrounding area and local excursions. Eddie was constantly at hand for helping with bags, taking food and drink orders and is such a nice guy. From the hotel, there is a lovely walk along the coastline all the way up to Fira, approximately 40mimutes walk. Probably not a walk for flip-flops though so I'd recommend runners. If you decide to choose the bus, the bus stop is approximately a 5 minute walk and costs €1.80 single to either Fira or Oia. Overall we had an amazing stay in this hotel and would highly recommend it. This is such a beautiful place and if returning, this would definitely be top of the list.

This place is ideal for a stay on Santorini.
Location: it is in Imerovigli, which is a 25 minutes walk to Fira and a 30 minute bus ride to Oia. The best thing about being in Imerovigli is that it is not as crowded as Oia and Fira, but you have the same great views!! The pool and lounge area is on quiet spot on the cliff, giving out directly on the caldera. It also has one of the best spot for the sunsets!!! Yes, there are stairs to go down, but any hotel on that side of the island will have stairs.
Staff: the staff, from Edy, to Joanna, to Mary, to the housekeeping crew, are all amazing. They will do their best to accomodate you. We still feel bad for having Edy wake up at 4h30AM to help us with our luggage on departure day.
Joanna was very helpful to us while making the reservation and answering the many questions we had prior to arrival.
Restaurant: the hotel restaurant is not advertised too much to the general public so it makes it a quiet spot and the food is good. Again, it has one of the nicest views of the sunsets. They also offer snacks and appetizers during the day if you want to enjoy the pool side.
We will definitely come back to stay here when we will go back to Santorini!!

Room tip: All rooms have nice views, so you can't be wrong choosing a room.
