This Hotel changed ownership over last winter and the new owner employed Christo the new manager who is friendly and resourceful although due to real labor shortages in Greece he does just about everything which means he gets pulled from pillar to post.
We arrived for the last week in May when Christo had been desperately trying to improve an inherited situation of lack of reinvestment by the previous owners.
Christo made our stay enjoyable and pleasant and did his utmost to provide us with a great quality experience. Our room was clean and well presented. There is a need for some updating of certain aspects but during the season is not the time for this due to the disruption that would, no doubt, upset the more 'sensitive' guests too much.
The towels do need replacing but at the beginning of the season the many Hotels are no doubt creating an island wide shortage of supply. They were clean and changed every day if required (think of the environment please people) The bathroom was a little small but clean and in a good state of repair, plenty of hot water. The style is a few years old but still modern and well looked after. The bed was comfy and clean. I slept well every night except for a night with gale force winds (occasional but not unusual when you are 500m above sea level), and a dog barking in a neighboring property on occasion (both not in hotels control obviously). Breakfast was well presented, cooked if you wished with good choice. When we visited there was as yet no chef (shortage of good ones) so Christo and his staff proved themselves to be very good cooks Christo makes a lovely handmade vegetarian pizza for lunch and very nice omelettes for breakfast amongst warm croissants, tea, coffee, fresh orange juice, toast, jams etc.
The position of the hotel presents spectacular views of the caldera and is half way between two major villages Imerovigli and Oia about 2.5 miles(5km) each way on the spectacular coast path. Please bear in mind that the walks in either direction are not for the faint of heart in blazing sun and 25-30 degC during the day and often windy. Vertical rise over 400 feet. We have visited this area over a dozen times and the walks are very doable for most fitness levels but take water!! I have run/jogged in ether direction frequently, best done before 10.00 AM.
The jacuzzi was warm and well looked after and was enjoyed almost daily.
Their season officially started 1st of June so I would say that with a season to iron out teething issues this hotel would be one of the best in its locality. Car hire is easy and cost effective per day for a small four seater compared to taxis to the near villages.
Anybody can make their own stay here very pleasant and enjoyable if they get to know the staff a little and forgive that which is not in their control. Staff effort is worth a rating of 5 but they are slightly let down by the building infrastructure which with their 100% plus effort will definitely improve
