We stayed here in beautiful July for a week it was even better than the photographs- Met and made to feel welcome by David and Karen when we arrived and asked to join them for drinks on pool terrace in the evening which was lovely and we all got to know each other a bit. This occurred every evening and was a lovely way to unwind, meet other guests and find out about the area from both David and Karen and any tips they had. Accommodation very clean, tidy and had everything needed for a very comfortable stay - View of pool and beyond was lovely- We were within walking distance of the lovely village of St Saturnin where there were enough good restaurants and shops for a easy stay- the pool area was really smart and very relaxing. David and Karen were always around if you needed help or just a chat- We hope to return to this excellent accommodation and area of Beautiful Provence. Thank you both for you help in making our holiday superb.
We stayed in the Chambre du Platane B & B room, which was very comfortable and perfectly clean. We felt privileged as if we were in a very private resort with great views, excellent uncrowded swimming pool and genuine hospitality. David and Karen are the perfect hosts, they pay attention to every detail of your stay, including cleaning, advice on restaurants, outings etc., while at the same time respecting your privacy. They have two gites and a whole house available to rent as well as a lovely B&B room. As said above, we stayed in the B&B, and were served an excellent breakfast each day on our terrace. We particularly enjoyed the drinks by the pool each evening with David and Karen, and the other guests. We will definitely return!
Les Oliviers exceeded all our expectations, what a wonderful week we had!
If you are into cycling, like us, the location is perfect for a ride up and over Le Mont Ventoux. You can ride up and over and around and through the picturesque Gorge de la Nesque, or simply explore the beautiful villages in the area. The only down side was that the lavender & cherries were already gone - so we'll have to come again to witness the beauty of the lavender fields in full bloom.
If you have a less active holiday in mind, St Saturnin les Apt is perfectly positioned for day outings in the area whilst you can then return to the peacefulness of a small hilltop village.
The swimming pool was a welcome way to cool down after hot summer days; and the cottages were spotless and well equipped. David & Karen are superb hosts, giving attention to detail and making an effort to let their guests feel welcome and at home.
We have stayed at this property on several previous occasions and were delighted to return this year. It is a beautifully equipped and very well maintained small gite, with a private terrace (with table to eat at and barbeque) and has shared use of a glorious infinity pool set in an attractive garden. The hosts are very friendly and hospitable (but never intrusive); they normally call by in the mornings to check everyone is ok, and are always available at apero time for general conversation (or requests for restaurant bookings). We love coming here and cannot imagine anywhere better for a fortnight's stay in Provence.
We had a wonderful week as guests of David & Karen Taylor at one of their gites on the edge of the delightful Saint Saturnin Les Apt. The accommodation was perfect with a view overlooking the infinity swimming pool and then on to the valley. The gite was very well appointed with everything we could have asked for, including the complimentary bottle on wine chilling in the fridge. We spent most evenings relaxing on our terrace after cooking dinner on the barbecue provided. There is an opportunity to mix with the other quests and the owners for pre-dinner drinks in the lovely seating area at the end of the pool, where you can watch the sun go down. David & Karen are extremely welcoming and are ready to offer advice on where to go and what to do to get the most out of the area. As a keen cyclist, David was happy to arrange bike hire for me and then to take me on a fantastic ride to the summit of Mt Ventoux, which is one of the famous hill climbs on the Tour De France. A shattering day but well worth it - David's expert knowledge of the various routes and landmarks in the area made the ride much more interesting. I will certainly be arranging another day out with David as a guide when we return, as I know we will.
