“Not guest friendly”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2011

Went to enjoy the rains but the hotel was a big disappointment - starting from the reception - a cold windy hall - no welcome drink, no fruits or cookies in the room, no slippers or bath robes either. On asking for the latter, we were told these were not in our package even though we were in the deluxe rooms. The bathrooms need a complete revamp - leaky and cold. The linen was clean but the sofas were badly stained. There were only two bottles of mineral water every day even in double occupancy.

The library and activity room was just a corridor- badly lit and unwelcoming. There is no Airtel signal.

The one saving grace was the food and the F&B manager went out of his way to accommodate our requests but the waiters were not very efficient.

Not the best place for a rainy holiday.

Everything at this hotel was perfect. From the breathtaking view (specially from the Bar - Over the edge), to the super comfortable and modern rooms, the amazing showers in the bathrooms, the availability of a range of amazing spa massages, the activities (table tennis, pool, library etc) and last but not the least, the consistently amazing food served in the buffet every single meal. I would highly recommend this place for a great getaway as it offers a great all round package.

Room Tip: Get rooms facing the valley. All rooms are very different & unique

All the restaurants except their multicuisine restaurant is shut during the monsoon. Nice resort, but would not go back there with a young child.

The good:
Nicely Designed Rooms
Clean Linen and Towels

The Bad:
Terrible plumbing : The temperature of the shower kept fluctuating due to variation in pressure of the water.
Food Choice is limited: We were on an all meal package and everything on the buffet was extremely spicy (had a lot of difficulty explaining to the F&B Manager that Chilli is not the only spice). We had to order food for our child from the menu.
The facilities are terrible: The have a broken Ping Pong table with broken bats and balls. The pool table had only one cue.

Overall the place is well designed, but run in a very unprofessional manner (they messed up my booking internally and wanted me to sort it out). The linen is clean but the sofas were badly stained. Most of the "5 star" facilities that they refer to are in a dilapitated and broken state.

We are extremely sorry for your disappointment during your recent stay at our resort. We do not advertise any facilities that are not available, else we would not be rated as the best resort in Mahabaleshwar. We request you to kindly understand that Mahabaleshwar receives 300 inches (7500mm) rain during the 3 monsoon months of the year. 2 out of our 4 restaurants have outdoor seating. Even though the kitchens of these 2 restaurants are operational and the meals from those menus are served in the Pavillion restaurant, the other pure vegeterian restaurant, Prasadam is fully operational during the monsoons too.Our bar, Over the Edge is fully operational too, and we serve meals from all our restaurants in the bar during the monsoons. As a special promotion during the monsoon season, we include all meals in the room tariff and so serve a buffet breakfast , lunch and dinner. Our extensive menu selection is well appreciated by our guests, but we apologise for not being able to satisfy your children's needs. Our Restaurant managers and our Chefs willing oblige all guests with special dietary needs and prepare special meals, provided we are informed of the requirements in advance.
I will interact with you directly to determine the nature of mess up with your booking and look into its causes and take appropriate action in the matter. I assure you that we are a professionally run hotel with a commitment to guest satisfaction and do take each complaint seriously and ensure appropriate action . Thanks for your review and your time.

We wanted to just relax towards the end of our vacation and chose to stay Brightland for a day. It was a nice chill out day. The kids also have lot of stuff to do like swimming pool, TT, Carrom, library, pool table which is charged :-(
It is very good hotel with great valey views (some rooms).
The room that we got had a big balcony at the back with great view.

There are multiple restaurants at the hotel and gives good variety.

A beautiful hotel, amazing views, great service is the words hold for Brightland.
I booked on Friday evening and desperately wanted a place to relax after months long hours at work. Brightland was more than a welcoming experience.
Finding the hotel can be a little tough, as there is only one sign board at the turn to the hotel. The staff at the reception are friendly. The food was good mix of Indian and Continental. The play area is small, but good. The bed was good, but below standard that you are shelling for the night.
Going the monsoon to Mahabaleshwar has always been a treat. I would highly recommend for couples who are ready to spend 10K for a night to stay at this place.

Thank You Sir for your valuable feedback. We appreciate your honest feedback and such reviews help us to improve ourselves further. We have added a few more road signs before the turning to Kate's Point road and I'm sure you will have no difficulty finding us the next time. As far as bed and mattress quality is concerned, we use 10" or 12" spring mattresses in our rooms, and this is a standard in most 5 star rated hotels. Our linen is at least 300 count pure cotton satin. We also provide all guests with a pillow menu with a range of 6 pillows with different range of softness. We have further started a housekeeping review of all our mattresses and I assure you the best of sleep during your next stay with us. Thank you for sparing your valuable time for your review.
