Boucherie Lorrain's little sister, Resto & Poissonnierie Lorrain à la mer, is a most welcome new addition to the region's restaurant scene and a seafood lover's delight, where quality and freshness is taken seriously. Similar in concept and style - and same ownership - they are located just a few doors from each other, at the entrance of the town of Rosemère.
Knowledgeable and friendly personnel walked us through the options available, which run the gamut from oysters, smoked salmon, shrimps, octopus, to coquilles Saint-Jacques and whole fish you can chose from the enticing seafood bar. You can sit at the bar or at a large table that accommodates about 12 guests, or you can buy off the counter and take it home.
The delicately spiced-up fried shrimps with honey were very tasty and the toast with smoked salmon, cucumbers, fennel and poached egg was exquisite and nicely presented. Having visited with friends this time, I was able to share the whole monk fish, served with deliciously flavored vegetables. The risotto with corn, green peas and a jumbo shrimp was rather unique, both in taste and texture, a variation I very much enjoyed - all accompanied by a Canadian Riesling.
The wine by the glass is a tad on the expensive side, but the choice was good each time we were here. If the bar stools had back rests, we would have preferred to sit there because in wintertime, the cold draft from the entrance makes sitting at the table uncomfortable. By the way, be sure to verify their opening hours; they stick to them religiously. A final thought; We hope they will be around for a long time.
