We spent a good deal of time choosing the place in which we wanted to stay on our first visit to Skye. We were not disappointed. The cottage is conveniently situated next door to the shop/post office and over the road from a café, as well as being a well-worth-the -effort walk a mile uphill to the wonderful Red Roof Café. The surrounding area of Glendale is very pretty and much of it is visible through the lounge window.
The cottage itself is absurdly well-equipped with basic groceries in the cupboards that you are welcome to use providing you replace them when you leave. This made arriving late afternoon on a Saturday when the shops were shutting less of a problem. The bedrooms are spacious, the beds very comfortable and the whole house furnished as you would your own house.

The kitchen is large and has a fullsized fridge and freezer as well as all you could want, even a breadmaker. Andy left a box of his free range eggs for us - a real treat.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with details of local walks in the cottage information file, but should you not be as fortunate as we were with the weather, there are books and games as well as a television in the cottage lounge.

Lephin Cottage is a wonderful place to stay and I would recommend it unreservedly.

“A home away from home, fully stocked & equipped”

I had the pleasure of staying for a week in this comfortable house in the rather remote but very beautiful and spectacular part of the Isle of Skye. The amazing photography of Lephin's host Andy Stables that I had been following on Facebook prior to my stay brought my attention to this lovely cottage. Lephin cottage leaves nothing to be desired (with the exception perhaps of a dishwasher) and we were so impressed by how well the kitchen was stocked, from a breadmaker with all required ingredients for making fresh bread, to spices, oil, red and white wine, tea and coffee. At the welcome we were even given a box of fresh eggs laid by the host's own hens on the hill above the cottage! I also loved being surrounded by Andy Stables' superb photographs of Neist Point and other local sights which are displayed on the walls of the cottage. The visitors' manual is incredibly comprehensive and addresses all possible questions that could arise during one's stay as well as providing many suggestions for worthwhile excursions and activities. To sum it all up: Lephin has the feel of someone's beloved home that one is fortunate to enjoy when being Andy's guest. Being as well equipped and stocked as it is, it compensates for its fairly remote location. Having said that, the local post office & shop is conveniently located next to the cottage in case you run out of basics. Very highly recommended!
