Charming lodging in a charming town, famed for wine. The fortress offers breathtaking views of the entire area, and from the patio of the hotel! Breakfast was good and coffee delicious. Easy walking distance to take in the whole hilltop town.

Room Tip: view of the pool and vistas

Beautifully converted olive mill close to old city gates at the end of the main street ran by attentive, welcoming hosts. Convenient walking distance from all Montalcino’s main attractions. Our corner room was spacious with great views in all directions, including the bathroom. Lovely breakfast and a perfect start to the next leg of our walking holiday.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a corner room with views in both directions.

We stayed for a few nights in a room with a stunning view! Staff was amazing and so helpful and friendly. The gentleman at the front desk arranged for us to have a private Wine tasting at his friend's winery, SestadiSopra, it was so nice we bought several bottles! I highly recommend it! Great central location. Quiet, clean and very good breakfast! It was too cold to swim, but the pool looked great! nice terrace area too! Great value for money. Will stay there again!

Room Tip: Beautiful views!

Sandro provided everything that we requested and much more! Had been to Tuscany a few years ago however, did not have an opportunity to visit the towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano. These are musts if you are a wine enthusiast. I vowed to go back and stay at the Hotel Vecchia Oliviera, to commemorate my B-Day, as my last name means olive tree! What a treat it was, to have beautiful views from our room, in addition to our wine tasting experience. Sandro made reservations for a private wine tasting at the SESTADISOPRA hazienda nearby and we were amazed with the personal touch! I would highly recommend this very quaint hotel. Beatriz.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a week long hiking tour. The room gave us a beautiful view from the hillside, the staff were very courteous and the ambiance was very comfortable and "authentic". We enjoyed our breakfast at the hotel and the ability to stroll into the beautiful town. The only draw back we discovered was a persistent barking dog that was down the hill, but close enough to wake us up during the night.
