Family dinner, we had been here as a family 5 years ago, and with friends subsequently. It surpassed our already high expectations.
First, the view. Is there a better view in the world, other than those overlooking the ocean?
The food is simply superb. The cheese and truffle gnocchi is a work of sublime genius, and all the furst courses were superb. I forgot the amuse bouche: a Tuscan bread and tomato soup, finished with oil: in LONDON or New York this alone would make this place a destination restaurant, and this would be the signature.
I attach a photo of the Fiorentina steak: RES IPSA LOQUITOR as the lawyers would say.
We drank a Sesti Brunello from 2009 which was in perfect condition. The wine list is well put together and their prices are fair, laughably cheap if you are used to major city prices.
The staff are lovely. They smile, they charm, they work their socks off. If I was a billionaire I would steal them for my Tuscan house.
This restaurant is perfect. Don’t change a thing.
(Actually there’s a small tree 1,400 metres away to the right — please get it moved 40 or so metres to the left , to perfect the view....)
