The staff int his hotel were extremely friendly and helpful form start to finish. The hotel is beautifully furnished, our room was clean and beautiful, Marble bathroom was stunning. Amazing view of Lake Como. The restaurant where they serve breakfast has breathtaking views of the lake. The food was superb. We also ate there one evening and had lovely tasting menu with wine pairings. The gardens at the back of the hotel are elevated even further above the hotel, so if you walk up tot he top of them you get even more amazing views. Cannot fault this hotel at all. It is close to the Villa Carlotta (next door in fact) and close to the ferry terminal which makes getting around the lake easy.

Room Tip: Room 316 has stunning view

We started our 2 week Italian tour with a short stay at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. I can't say enough about the wonderful experience we had. The room was great - outstanding bed - gardens beautiful and the staff outstanding. Let me give you and example of the way in which the staff went out of their way for us. It was a rainy Saturday night and we didn't want to go offsite for dinner. The only opening at the hotel was in the fondue restaurant and we didn't want fondue. The restaurant manager told us he would fix us anything we wanted. The pasta dinner was great and the entire experience memorable. The health club far exceeded my expectations - three stories with good equipment. Plenty of space to sit and enjoy the views and the boat watching. we caught the hydrofoil about 1 block away to our next destination. If I am ever back in Lake Como area, we will stay at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo.

Room Tip: Room in the back, towards garden, are quieter, with a view.

You pay a small fortune and the road is directly under your $2000/night suite.
There is a very diverse crowd, which is fine. It's a lovely hotel, ruined by the LOUD, LOUD road a few feet below the suites, the bar, and the Terrace restaurant which are all outrageously expensive.
The pool in the rear is wonderful, the spa, wonderful.
If you get a room in the back, it should be quiet, but you are there to see the lake.
We challenged the road, and they said ' well there are vehicles in the front picture', you should have known'. Really?????
The first nights we were there, also parties across the street until 11:30 pm
They said they were guests. NO!! a boat picked them up and ferried them across the lake.
Very sad experience, and ruined our first time in Como.
Also, the shower backed up in our suite and flooded the bathroom
First day, they didn't clean our room until 4 pm. They said it was our fault that we didn't put out our sign.
Please stay somewhere else, or get a room in the back, but DO NOT pay for a suite or the front of house. Big disappointment
Terrace food is ok, service is C- very surly.
Bar service, better, and food is better. Everything is crazy expensive. Just be ready.

Room Tip: Back of the hotel only

This is a wonderful hotel -- great staff (especially the extremely helpful concierge and bellman), huge breakfast choices (including gluten free options) and a lovely spa with indoor swimming pool, which is accessible for all guests (even if you don't schedule a spa treatment). It's also centrally located and very close to all the famous villas, Bellagio, etc. We really enjoyed our stay!

I want to start by saying that I am totally spoiled by the Belmond Hotels in Italy so perhaps if I had never been to one of them, I would give this hotel five stars. It is really is a lovely place to stay and the staff is wonderful. They make you feel welcome and they truly go out of their way to try to meet your needs. The Concierge service is outstanding and arrange for anything you want, including hard to get dinner reservations, along with a driver to get you there and back. Grand Hotel Tremezzo is located in an ideal setting. The grounds are gorgeous and the pools are outstanding. I particularly loved the spa pool! It is half way inside and half way outside, heated and comes with fabulous jets that massage your entire body. It was a great place to stop after a wonderful day out. The lobby is really old world and very luxurious. It brings you back to the glory days of the 1940's and 50's and the luxury that was available that time. However, there are a few things that I have to consider that bring it down from a perfect place to a good place. And again, I have to compare it to other places I have been. The rooms are very pretty and have been redone. However, the bathrooms are not well designed. Our room had a bathtub shower combo. While the bathtub wasn't overly high, it becomes an effort to get in and out safely. Now, I do have to say that when I asked if there was a similar room in my category with a separate shower they went out of their way to find me one. This was not an option on their web site, when selecting a room, so I had no idea that the rooms were different. But that room would have required we pack and move the next day, and those rooms have very small counter space on the sink to put your "stuff." We decided to stay in our room. The shower itself within the bathtub was wonderful but the way it is designed floods the floor no matter how you try to fix it. A wet marble floor is a dangerous situation. This should be fixed. My second issue was with regulations regarding breakfast on the day we left. They do have coffee service that they will bring to your room. There is no charge for that, but if you ask for some toast etc there is a 15 Euro charge. We were leaving at 7am, too early for our included breakfast, and they offered to bring us a bag of muffins, water etc for the car ride-- no charge. That's a nice gesture but I wanted that bag of goodies with my coffee at 6am- there was a charge for that-- 15 Euros. My husband went to discuss this with them the evening before we left and they said, don't worry we will take care of it. The coffee arrived by itself--no muffins etc. We eventually straightened this out but the policy needs to be revamped. Your exit from a hotel should be as wonderful as your entry. These are small things, but worth noting.
