“Simply the Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2010

Our family of four (including two young boys, aged 11 and 9) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. All aspects of our stay were exceptional, and particularly the staff (a family themselves who happen to own the Hotel). From our initial contact over the internet when we enquired about booking a room, to the help we received carrying our bags through the narrow cobbled streets of the old town to an awaiting taxi upon our farewell, we received a special kind of service and respect that is quickly fading from other, more pretentious, establishments.

The Hotel itself is an historical attraction, and the boys and I took a liking to the massive reading room onto which the rooms open. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the beds especially inviting after a long day's walking through the old town. We enjoyed our best breakfasts at this Hotel in all of our 5 weeks of holidaying around Europe. The food was freshly prepared for us and there was plenty of it. Alex or one of the other family members were always on hand to offer a refreshing drink any time of the day. In fact, we felt at home at this Hotel.

Just as importantly, the staff were knowledgeable and helped us organise car hire to Lindos (beach and ancient acropolis) and a guide to show us the many unique and often hidden attractions around the old town. We especially enjoyed being able to sit around a table (not standing across a reception desk, as in most other Hotels) with the staff and just chatting, about anything really. We felt that comfortable.

The Spirit of the Knights Boutique Hotel in Rhodes is simply the best.

George Griziotis and family,
Sydney, Australia.

The downside of this lovely little hotel is that it is not accessible by taxi or car. You telephone ahead to be met by a member of staff who brings a luggage transporter and takes you down a maze of alleys to the front gate. It is a historical building which has been sympathetically restored and furnished with little touches which make it like visiting a home rather than a hotel. All the hotel furniture was indivually made and designed or specially bought and chosen by the owner. Each room is different. We stayed in the Knight's Chamber which was the most unusual and lovely room we have ever used. I particularly liked the shower. The bed was huge, high and comfortable and one gazed up at the wonderfully curved ceiling above. We stayed only for one night as we were joining a ship the following day and the management were happy to look after our cases until the afternoon when we left. Do check out their website for photos of the rooms. They are all lovely and one even has a Turkish Hamman in it! The photos don't do justice to the garden which was planned and laid out by the lady owner. It was a tranquil oasis with little channels of water bubbling their way through it. My husband and I breakfasted there in the shade and he was treated to a huge Yorkshire breakfast whilst I had the best scrambled eggs I have ever had in a hotel. The hotel is family run and very friendly indeed. Those not familiar with the antique nature of some Greek sewerage systems might not like not being able to put paper down the lavatory but, believe me, this minor inconvenience is well worth it for the unique experience of a stay in this tranquil little Rhodes hotel.

We had a great time at the Hotel. This is definitely a gem. As soon as you walk through the gates you will feel so peacefull. This hotel is nestled amongs the tiny streets of the old city. It is truly a gem. The suites are spacious and super clean. The staff is there to cater to your inner needs , but at the same time, will not make you feel overwelmed. We really enjoyed our 4 nights stay at the hotel. The breakfasts are fabulous and Alex and Keira will make you feel at home in a beautiful setting. This Hotel is worth every penny.

The reviewer gave 5/5 and wrote a great review but said no to "would you reccommend this hotel to a friend".

I am quite sure that this must be an error ...

We have never enjoyed a hotel as much as this.
Kind and friendly hosts. Rich ambience. Helpful, helpful staff.
Room scrupulously clean and classically decorated. So cool after the long hot sightseeing and shopping!
Lovely courtyard. The cute and refreshing plunge-pool...
Delicious and companionable breakfasts and high tea!

As soon as we booked, we got a personal email asking to make arrangements to meet us so we wouldn't get lost. Several follow-up emails from Duncan and Alex.
We were duly met by Duncan, as arranged - with a trolley for our bags.
Nothing was too much trouble - laundry, guides, advice...

The personal touch was always evident and made us feel so welcome and at ease.

A truly great stay!
And not expensive by comparable prices in North America, France, Italy...

I have been meaning to write this review for over a year, but better late than never. We had a fantastic stay at the Spirit of the Knights last summer. It is in a quiet location but with just a short walk, you are in the heart of Rhodes town. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The garden is wonderful for breakfast or a cocktail later in the day. We loved the Spirit of the Knights.
