For a family of 8 traveling around Greece, we looked around for the right hotels to stay on our 6 week vacay throu the Greek Islands. We came across Olea Bay Hotel and it was perfect from the first Hello. Starvos greeted us with a smile and thats how it was... Only fabulous suggestions as Starvos glided in and out of our sight, always keeping us all happy and content. Great sized rooms and yummy breakfast...Starvos, we missed you at every other hotel we stayed, you will always be the best of 2018 and we will be back!

Our trip to Milos started with my husband, son, and I excitedly entering the Olea Bay Hotel (booked via NYC Liberty Travel back in March) only to be told by the guy at the front desk that they didn't have our booking. Next moment, with tears in my eyes, the same guy offers me a glass of water and tells me that the travel agencies always screw up ... we should have booked online/directly. My son is completely confused by all of this and jet lagged and lies down on a pillow in the lobby and is promptly scolded by the same guy, who informs us that the pillows are from Spain. (My husband swears they are from IKEA.) Any moms out there looking to book? I wouldn't bring a child there unless you want to walk on eggshells. When the local travel agent showed up to drive us to a new hotel, she told us that this hotel over-books all the time. On our way out of the Olea Bay lobby, my husband picked up one of our bags to take to the car and it bumped into my water glass and it broke on the floor. We apologized and were told it's OK. However, later we were called at the new hotel by the travel agency supervisor who tells me that the Olea Bay guy called the police?? and said that "I was hysterical and did damages to the hotel that we should be charged for?!" Thankfully the local agent who picked us up saw the accident was able to convey the actual story. The hotel we wound up at turned out to be much nicer, with a gorgeous beach, and a friendlier, more tolerant staff (The Golden Milos Beach Hotel). In the end we believe the booking screw up was the BEST thing that could have happened and that we dodged a bullet!

Stavros M, Ιδιοκτήτης at Olea Bay Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded 12 July 2018

Dear Stacy H,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Our top priority is to meet all our guests' expectations. As discussed in our previous conversations during your stay in Milos, our team has done everything possible to deal with the peculiarity of your booking with the appropriate seriousness. We really apologise for your poor experience.

Even though it is NOT our hotel to blame for your inconvenience, we did our best to come up with a solution that would best satisfy you. Your travel agency (Small Islands) never informed our hotel about your reservation and probably they did not inform you that they never contacted us.

We would also like to reassure you that we NEVER contacted the local police department, as you were told by the travel agency supervisor, since there was nothing to report! Please feel free to reach out to me directly at stavrosmor@gmail.com or +306977344652 if there are any obscure points in our interaction.

We are really glad that you enjoyed your holidays in Milos after all, and it would be a pleasure to personally welcome you back on another visit to our property

Best regards,
Stavros Moraitis

We stayed at this hotel during its first season in 2015 and really enjoyed it. We have recently returned to Milos and stayed in another part of the island and needed one night in Adamas on the last night so chose a more central hotel as at the time of booking we planned to get an early ferry to Athens. Our travel plans changed and we decided to fly from Milos to Athens, however our original choice of hotel was non cancellable. Two days before requiring the accommodation we were advised the original hotel had over booked! We were offered the Olea Bay as one of the rebooking options by online booking agency. It didn’t take much considering to chose this hotel. On arrival our decision was confirmed as being the best one, the hotel had not only kept its new fresh clean contemporary vibe but had improved considerably with the addition a fantastic pool area. The family feel and welcome was most evident in the management of the hotel. We spent one fantastic day here and made the most of the facilities on offer right upto our departure to the airport.

The hotel is some way out of town but it’s location and outlook make up for this and also it avoids the noise of town.

The included breakfast was excellent for a hotel of its size it offered a good range of choice regularly topped up and the addition of a seperate table of local specialties to chose from really added to the experience. It’s great to see hotels highlighting their own location and experiences away from the normal expected food offerings.

All in all when staying in Adamas again there will be no alternative choice it will only be the Olea Bay!

If you are looking for a modern hotel with excellent facilities, that maintains the ethos of a true family business, which embraces and promotes its local culture and food then look no further.
