I´ve been at Nautilus some years ago already and - after travelled a lot in between - decided to come back for more than weeks as this is just the best you can get if you are looking for luxury in the jungle. What to expect is a very peaceful setting, insanely delicious food, great yoga, the most adorable stuff ever and an amazing place to surf. it couldn't get any better. Hurry up if you want a place in heaven!

Hi Sophia, It was a pleasure to look after you and host you again at Nautilus. As you can see we as the new owners have kept the hotel concept the same so the brand is consistent, but we have done a fair amount of improvements. That said, i trust we delivered the 'quiet' and private destination you were looking for. Spread the word, any friend of yours you recommend we'll do a discount package similar to yours.
We also hope you decide on a 'hat-trick' and come see us again.
Thank you again, the staff miss you being around and enjoyed making your stay a memorable one.

Regards

Nautilus

The venue itself is both beautiful and really relaxing. It’s just off the main road which actually makes a nice difference in terms of being a little quieter and more peaceful when you’re in your room. The rooms themselves are gorgeous and it all has a very rustic vibe. The overall focus is on health and wellbeing and they offer a variety of yoga classes each day to vary it up.

Now as great as the hotel was, the service and experience was even better. My wife and I went on our honeymoon and had a nasty shock that our local flight was cancelled the day before (thanks NatureAir!). I called up Nautilus kind of freaking out and they took care of everything. They arranged local transport on the fly and just handled it. We didn’t worry about how or where to go, they got us there. That’s how they treated everything from grabbing a cab to local tours and activities. You can just enjoy yourself and they take care of the details.

I can’t say enough how great an experience it was and special thanks to Juan, Augustina and the whole Nautilus crew for making our honeymoon so amazing.

Dear Honeymooners...
It gives us great pleasure that firstly you had an exceptional vacation, but secondly and most importantly you chose Nautilus and Olam as your base for your honeymoon. We are deeply flattered and are so very pleased we met your expectations and truly made it a memorable one. Naturally we 'expect' to see you here for your anniversary, clock-up some loyalty points and we can give you an anniversary special deal direct from us.

Hassle free is what we try our best to achieve. Our whole guest experience objective, is to ensure our guest focuses on rest and relaxation, embraces Santa Teresa, gains some wellness awareness and ideally goes home fitter, cleansed and 100% chilled ready to deal with daily woes, but knowing you can always come back to us for a 'reboot'....

On behalf of the Nautilus team, we loved having you here, we all miss you guys, and wish you happiness and good luck for the future.....Come back and see us soon......

Regards

Nautilus

They have yoga and vegetarian food, the place was not my kind of style. The neg about the place was the shower which has very poor pressure, hard to get off all the sand. There was also a lot of ants in the kitchen, especially since they prefer you put the garbage on the desk so they can sort and recycle it. They were also singing weird sounds, I think it was from the yoga. This was just not my style, but if you like yoga, probably it's fine. Close to the beach.

Dear Uggla89,

Thanks for you review. Nautilus is very much a chill-out hotel as is Santa Teresa a chill out location. To say its 'hippie' we disagree as we focus on wellness and wellbeing here, if that's hippie then so be it. However we have a vast mix of guests from single independent travellers, couples, families, extended families and groups, and retreat groups. What they all have in common is their desire to escape the stresses of daily work-life, recharge and ensure they have an escape away from it all - Nautilus does this, and rather than go on one of those over commercialised resort vacations, Nautilus looks to put the guest in touch with the location, the environment, the person and companions. Guests can make their stay as loud and rowdy as they want as the nightlife entertainment is here in Santa Teresa, or they can withdraw into nature and the jungle beach life here. But i wouldn't say its hippie...

Apologies for the ants....our amazing housekeepers do an fantastic job looking after our guests, so the odd ant sneaking under the door is harmless, however you are in the jungle tropics, and with 6% of the worlds flora and fauna on your doorstep, the odd small ant can't be considered a showstopper. If you looked in the trees and plants outside your villa, you would have seen, an amazing array of wonderful animals, including hummingbirds, parrots, incredibly colourful lizards and geckos, frogs, yellow Kiskadee, flycatchers, Jays, and if you're lucky a Toucan. Its a tropical paradise, so the odd ant might occur.

We provide a kitchen garbage bin in all villas, and yes we recycle as we are environmentally responsive, but i will check this.

We run two sessions a day on our purpose built yoga deck (9.00am and 6.00pm), one of the styles they do release stress by shouting out and some chanting, its about release and rebalance. The same for kung fu and karate, its about Chi....

This is peak season and we are full full full, ironically everyone comes back from the beach at similar times, specially after seeing the amazing sunsets which we are famous for (i hope you managed to experience them), so possibly everyone taking a shower at the same time reduced the pressure, plus dry season and we await the jungle rains. You could have used the pool and the adjacent shower we have there for the purpose of washing sand off.

Finally, this is the first time we've had a comment about the chilled-out life style being raised, but i wouldn't change that as the vast majority of guests want this (98% reviewing Nautilus as excellent 91% to very good 7%), thats why we have amazing and diverse mix of guests that want to and do experience a new and wonderful atmosphere here. Ironically Costa Rica has an exceptionally high life expectancy, so i know what i would choose......choose life.......choose hippie........choose Nautilus.

Thank you.

I would go back in a heartbeat. I loved the food, yoga, proximity to the beach, helpful and friendly staff, and the town of Santa Teresa. I walked in not having any excursions planned and, with the help of Kati at the front desk, I booked zip lining, a Tortuga Island getaway, and surf lessons. I miss this oasis!

The pool was great, enjoyed the one Vinyasa yoga class we took there. Reception was super helpful getting us set up with everything we needed (quad rental pickup and drop off at the door of the hotel, Isla Tortuga booking, taxi...). Restaurant is delicious just wish they were open for dinner! I would give them more stars but did feel nickel and dimed with the deposit. Other than that great experience. Nothing fancy but rooms are cute and have what you need including a nice porch. Overall vibe is good!
