Lone Pine Hotel
Ranked #6 of 10 Hotels in Batu Ferringhi
Reviewed 29 August 2017

Good comfortable room on second floor overlooking the pool and sea through some trees. enjoyed dinner in the Japanese restaurant but were disappointed with the main restaurants limited menu on the Friday night. So disappointed that we got up and left to try another restaurant along Jalan Batu Ferringhi where we enjoyed a Chinese meal. The opportunities for interesting meals in the night food market along the road outside the hotel are good if not up to what we had experienced in Jalan Alor in Kuala Lumpur

My husband and I returned back to Lone Pine after 5 yrs. The hotel is run down and the food is disappointing.

The rooms have stains on the sheets, towels and bedding. The room needs to be painted many scuff marks.

The breakfast is poor food is not fresh. The decor is below 5 star standards- depressing environment for breakfast. Furniture is old and table clothes don't match.

If you are looking for a perfect maintained hotel and have problem with (a lot of) small negativeness (yes, there are a lot of stains on curtains, mirrors, the wood is very moldy, also the bathroom), don't go there. But if you are looking for nature, hospitality, friendly service, helpful staff, a lot of attention (free flipflops, every day gift snacks, every morning newspaper, sarong for use, free drinks in fridge, a lot of attention on the pool (cold water, Malaysian ice cream, cold small towels) and a lot of warm signs all over the room (look at the pictures). Sorry to say, but hotel in not maintained at all probably for some years now (it doesn't take so much money or time if you paint the rooms and do regular maintaining...). At the top of all my writing, only PEOPLE make this hotel a 5* hotel. So if the management and the owners will read this please THANK YOUR STAFF.

Lone pine hotel is next to the Golden Sand Resort Hotel by the beach , its nice and the pool is very nice also by the beach . I have seen many wedding parties being held there . I have been to Penang several times and I always go to Lone Pine . The restaurant is very good and the buffet is very reasonable .. For less than $20 you you try the dinner seafood buffet , and for a few dollars extra then all the wine you can drink . You cant find this in other areas with such beautiful settings.

Room Tip: Must go id f you like to swim and have good food at budget price

We had an overnight family visit. The rooms were huge, with balconies that had a bathtub on each of them. Very nice pool, poolside and with grounds surrounded by pine trees. It has rustic feeling. Bed was very comfortable. Access to beach is easy and very close by. Plenty of water sports activities for those who enjoy that kind of thing. Being on the Ferringhi Beach area, there are lots of tourist stalls just outside the hotel. The hotel has a bar, a Japanese restaurant and a main restaurant called The Bungalow. We had dinner at the Bungalow and we were rather disappointed with the service and food. Perhaps it doesn't get many customers that the service is slow and food was at best mediocre. I would suggest eating elsewhere. The breakfast spread was decent with many options, but service was mediocre. Nevertheless, we had a good stay and lobby staff were very attentive and friendly.
