we stayed here for 1 night and left for the much better Tribu hostel on the island we payed extra for ac which didnt work well and the owner kept switching in off at a main power box when ever he pleased because he said its to expensive to operate which is rediculaous when you pay quite a bit more for it if you cant afford it dont have it the internet doesnt work at all period we told him several times and he did nothing which was quite frustrating when you have to arrange flights we decided to leave and he was not happy about it and told us he would charge us for a weeks accomodation and call the police we argued with him for quite a while and eventually charged us for 3 nights we didnt stay which was extrmemly rude all in all average place there are much better places to stay

Nice simple set of bungalows, a little further from the centre of town. There's a common, well-equipped kitchen, lots of hammocks (including inside some bungalows), free wi-fi & a great community feeling. The floor of my bungalow was fine sand, which was swept & raked each day

NOTE: taxi drivers at the dock may tell you that the hostel is really close or even closed in a subtle refusal to take you there. This is because they demand a commission from hotels and the owner will not pay them this. Crooks!

Room Tip: bungalows further from the kitchen area are quieter

We rented a cabana. Small private bathroom, shower, some hot water. Communal kitchen. Wi fi. Place is very well run and kept very clean. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach. We looked around at other places and found nothing near as good in the price range. Some mosquitos bot not bad and the room had a net. We stayed a week and were really happy here. There are also dorm rooms

Lay in hammocks all day, talk to other travellers, camp or stay in cabanas. This place has a very relaxed vibe that makes you want to stay longer and the family is lovely

This is a unique hostel. We stayed in one of the cabins which had a bunk bed and a hammock. There were other rooms with regular beds and more hammocks.

Very friendly, multilingual hosts with well-behaved children; however, they were gone a lot and the staff that were left behind had difficulty with English (just an FYI for non-Spanish speakers).

The location is a bit of a jaunt from the ferry station and the center of town, so if you come to the island and have a lot of luggage or heavy backpacks, spring the 30 pesos (for 2 people) for a taxi. You'll be happy you did.

The beds were fairly comfortable, and the fan did a great job, combined with the island breeze, at keeping it cool enough to sleep at night; however, the dorms and cabins have no floors, just sand, which can make it fairly uncomfortable in your bed at night when the sand from your feet is covering the bottom of the bed and working its way up. Private rooms don't have that much privacy either. The door can't be locked or even held shut (no knobs) and the window coverings are too short or too narrow to ensure privacy. And since there is no glass in them, only screens, any wind at all and they're flapping in the breeze. Because of the lack of windows and a solid door, it can get a bit noisy as you will hear almost every sound that happens in the area. The staff are at it very early in the morning (before 6 AM), so if you're a light sleeper and don't want a sunrise awakening, bring ear plugs.

Bathroom was very clean, but the stalls were extremely confining. It was hard to move around at all.

Their website advertises they have an on-site restaurant and bar, but no one was ever inside it to cook or mix you anything. In addition, the prices were insane for a budget location (50 pesos for eggs).

At night there are virtually no lights outside, so you'll want a flashlight or something to get around. If they do turn one on, it's bright enough for the job.

Basically consider this hostel is just a step up or 2 from camping. Some will absolutely adore it and others will not be so thrilled. But it's also hard to beat the price. I walked around and checked many others. He'll also give you a price discount if you are staying for at least 3 days (at least at the time of writing this review!).

Room Tip: Stay for more days for a discount
