This was our first trip to Holbox, and thanks to Trip advisor, I made the right choice on the hotel. Villas Flamingos is well located, right on the beach, which is important because many of the hotels in the "hotel zone" are actually across a road from the beach. So if that is important to you, take note.
I had forgotten all about a transfer reservation prior to flying, so we ended up at the Cancun airport with no ride to Holbox. No worries, because I called Villas Flamingos, and spoke to the great guys at the front desk, and they arranged a pick up almost immediately that included they boat to the island, and a golf cart pickup.
Once at the hotel, we were very impressed. Room was #10, partial ocean view. Very clean, maid service was great. It has a balcony with a hammock and 2 chairs and a table. It also had a medium sized lizard that hung out with us every day!
The restaurant/bar had a good selection, breakfast was very good with good sized portions. All in all the food was good.
The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with plenty of lounge chairs and bali beds. The pool overlooks the ocean, perfect for watching the sunset.
Unfortunately, there was a storm surge from hurricaine Sandy while we were there, so the beach was covered with water in the middle section, but the side section was fine.
We will definitely return to Villas Flamingos in the future!

We have been on Holbox many times and Villa Flamingos is a wonderful place to stay. Many improvements have been made and it is a quiet oasis on the beach with all the amenities. We first stayed at Flamingos 11 years ago so we've seen the improvements over time. The rooms are nice, the gardens and surroundings are beautiful and quiet. It's the perfect place to relax. The staff is friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Stayed at villas flamingos for 4 nights and we wish we could have stayed longer. The gardens and surroundings are quiet, peaceful and very well maintained. Do not expect many tourists and entertainment but if searching for a place to relax, this is it. Breakfast was made as you wish, the pool is nice, warm and clean and the staff is friendly and helpfull. Sleep in you hammock on your balcony, drink a wine on the terrace or read your book somewhere in the garden...we considered to keep the name of this place quiet so nobody would discover it:)

Pros: Loved the individual palapa rooms. Beach location was great. Short walk to quaint town. Cons: front desk staff was slow. Breakfasts were plain / repetative. Bar was often out of rum and mint (mojitos)

We spent 3 days in the hotel. We arrived in Cancun and we took the wrong way and missed the last ferry. We called the hotel and they arranged a boat to pick us up. Next day we went for the whale shark tour the hotel arranged for us. The boat picked us up at the beach of the hotel. We were lucky with the weather and there were plenty of whale sharks in the sea. We and the kids had a great time. We got a house overlooking the sea which was great. There was a big jaccuzi on the second floor and it took long time to fill it up. We slept well every night. The only thing that we were not used to was the toilet. No flush. That's part of the deal of eco-hotel. Breakfast was nice and included in the room rate. I have a 4-year and a 10-year old and they charged the full price for both of them.
