My kids and I absolutely crave the sushi rolls and nigiri here. The fish is clean and fresh, and the rolls are truly spectacular, showing the chef's pride in his work. The staff is super friendly and always include an "on the house" appetizer. We are really happy to have another good option to have a dinner out in the area. This place puts the other sushi restaurants in Harrison to shame. Prices are reasonable, too!

Oh--and for a really decadent feast, order the tempura platter. You'll be dreaming about it.

Cheam Sushi was a pre-planned Agassiz lunch spot stop for us when heading to Harrison Hot Springs recently. We arrived at the restaurant just before noon, after attending some activities of the 'Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival' at/near Harrison Mills on the drive 'up' the Valley.

First impressions: A rather small, neat, and clean place (yup, the washrooms as well), offering about 6-8 small tables (depending on how they are arranged) for those coming to dine inside. Prompt service - menus, and hot tea came to our chosen table quickly after entering and getting settled in. Note: and such service to our table remained timely throughout our meal.

What we (a threesome) ordered and shared:

- "nice start" - after ordering, we were brought a free appetizer of deep-fried california roll. A nice touch, and tasty start to our meal!

- Appetizers: agedashi tofu (w/teriyaki sauce), and takoyaki (octopus balls). The portions of each were of good size, but I found preparations 'and' presentations lacking - the tofu pieces had been overcooked, their coverings too dry and crusty for my liking, and with the poor presentation (served in a bowl), were rather immersed in the (too sweet) sauce -- the octopus balls preparation was 'ok', the pieces quite flavourful, and tasty, but the dish, like the tofu, really lacked better presentation.

- Tempura: assorted tempura (w/prawns and veggies - green beans, yam, sweet potato, squash, broccoli). A large portion, with good preparation and presentation - the batter was light and crisp, the prawns and veggies flavourful, and cooked just right. The squash and green beans were a nice touch.

- Sashimi: salmon and tuna (on a bed of shredded diakon). The presentation was colourful, the preparation well-done - the fish (and diakon) colourful, fresh, 'sweet', and tasty.

- Rolls: long beach roll (w/torched scallop on top, mango, prawn, and avocado inside). The roll was a good-looking, and interesting preparation - colourful, flavourful, and tasty.

We enjoyed lunch at Cheam Sushi.

These guys do a really good job of the food. However the service is slow and disorganized. Don't come if you are in a hurry. The takeout is good... The optional brown rice is delicious and perfectly cooked. Lots of choice on the menu. Hoping the service gets better soon.

My boyfriend and i were staying in Harrison Mills over Halloween and decided to try this place based on the reviews. We weren't disappointed. The food was scrumptious and service was good, considering we were the only ones there. We even got a free appy! Definitely stop here if your a sushi fan.
