An excellent resort apartment with good access to snow with a variety of pistes to suit a variety of skier. The apartment is well equipped and spacious, wonderfully warm with good views of the slopes and village from the balcony. Wifi worked well but BBC reception on the TV can break-up at times. Long lift/walk to reception and pool but worth the travel! Staff very helpful and restaurants (esp. Alpage and Cremaillere and mountain ones) very good.

Room Tip: Ask for view of slopes near to Reception or boot locker.

The hotel is in the centre of a small village in Le Chinaillon, both ski hire (Twinners) and shops are on the main road in front of the hotel. With the Ski information centre across the road. All lifts to the mountain are a short walking distance away. To access the ski lifts there is a lift behind the information centre that will take you down to the base of the mountain.

The hotel is 1 hour drive from Geneva, traffic was busy when returning to Geneva airport so give yourself more time if you want to make your flight on time. Le Chinaillon was easy to find by sat nav from Geneva

To check in to the hotel you need to follow the road signs, the main reception is at the top of the hotel. There is a road that will take you up to the reception 1st left once you pass the hotel (if on your left) Check in is not until 5pm which is not great if you arrive at the resort early in the morning. As our flight arrived at 10:30am we found ourselves hanging around all afternoon to check in, it does state this on the hotel website and I was aware of this when booking. Check in was fast and staff were helpful when asked for local information.

The room was a decent size for 4 people sharing, beds were comfortable with extra covers provided in a cupboard The room can sleep 6 but I think that it would be a bit crowded for 6 adults, the room was clean apart from the bath which hadn't been cleaned prior to our arrival. The bath had hairs and dirt along the top of the bath, the hotel provides a cleaning kit perhaps they should use one before guests check in. Hygiene should be on top of their list to welcome guests.

There is a kitchen check list that you are expected to fill out and return to reception within 24hours, with a 5pm check in surly housekeeping staff have time to do this, this is the last thing I expect to do while on holiday, perhaps the management should review this policy. Kitchen facilities were good with lots of crockery and cutlery if you decide to stay in and cook. There is a local Spar store at the front of the hotel.

The lifts were easy to work out, after a few trips out it was easy to find your way around. The local restaurants are small and cosy, we had a nice meal with good service at hotel l'alpage. Some restaurants are overpriced for the food offered but this can be expected in a ski resort.

Our friends used the spa and sauna and said it was good after a days boarding highly recommended if you decide to book this hotel.

Ski lockers are provided on the second floor above the car park , we didn't use as we stored ski equipment in the car. Snow was thin on certain runs with other runs closed but still enough snow to have fun and get away from your busy life.

I would return to Le Chinaillon or le Grand Bornand as it was great part of the world for skiing but would book a different hotel due to the layout, check in times and cleanliness of room on arrival.

The apartments are nicely done, you feel really at home there. The service is good and most of the staff speaks english. The views over the mountains are great and all apartements have balconys.
The bad thing is that you need severall elevators to go down to the village or up to reception.
And there are not many restaurants, so you may better book a table in advance during high season. Or go to Grand Bornand (10min) or even better to La Clusaz (20min) where there is a more choice. It is also a good place to go with kids, easy pists and lifts.

Fantastic stay over X-mas, stayed with wife and family - was unsure as mixed reviews on trip Advisor. However we found it was a fantastic place- staff could not do enough for you, room was a great size with great views over the mountain. Don't be put off by the negative reviews of the lifts as a 5 year old can easily navigate them (and did with ease). Good boot locker/ski room on second floor that leads straight out onto the main street that leads to slopes via a lift (left of the tourist office). Superb unspoilt traditional french village with real charm not spoilt by the hype of bigger resorts. good runs for all abilities and plenty to do. Make sure you visit Jan onwards as the snow is light in DECEMBER.

Room Tip: Mountain views are a must

My Sister and Brother in Law kindly invited us to share their Christmas holiday here.
I wouldnt stay here again due to - Endless lifts and corridors and remembering which lift you need, which floor connects with where to get from a to b to e to f or whatever.. I have never known anything like it! You also dont get room cleaned during your stay, clean towels (not necessarily a problem) and you have to clean the room yourself at the end of your holiday so it ends up feeling like you may as well have been at home!
The rooms and hotel itself are modern and nicely fitted.
A dining room for breakfast if you want it for convenience is sadly lacking but not a problem as there are some really nice restaurants very nearby.
Id say the best thing about our apartment on floor 7 (I think it was, I lost count after all of the lifts) was the view on both sides of the mountain .. nice.

Room Tip: If you want less of a trip from the boot lockers get a room on the lowest floor but then its a treck to the pool and you will have a right job carrying all of your bags and suit cases from the top to the bottom and then from the bottom to the top on the way to reception for your home journey.
