This was our second visit to this pleasant, blue-shuttered villa, situated in the sleepy village of Castelnau de Guers, just a stone's throw from the bustling old town of Pezenas. The villa is comfortably furnished, with a well equipped kitchen, Wifi and UK satellite TV. There is a sunny, covered terrace leading off the living room which is perfect for open air eating and overlooks a very private pool and patio area with a large barbecue and views over olive trees. The Canal du Midi and the towns of Pezenas, Agde, Sete and Marseillan are all within easy reach, with Narbonne, Montpellier and the stunning fortified city of Carcassone all within an hour's drive. Pezenas has plenty of shops, cafes and good restaurants. Castelnau itself has a small shop, a bakery and a cafe-bar. This villa is ideal either as a place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the French countryside, or as a base for exploring the beautiful countryside and historic towns of 'Le Midi'.
My partner and I are regular visitors to the south of France and absolutely love this area. The house is positioned in a beautiful, rustic, typically French village if Castelnau de Guers. The views are wonderful and close by towns such as Pezenas and Marseillon have some fantastic restaurants. We particularly enjoyed a few visits to Cap D'Agde, which is somewhat more touristy but has an excellent beach and plenty to do for the kids. The house itself is lovely, with all the facilities you could require for a relaxing holiday. The private pool is a refreshing addition to cool off from the beautiful hot sunshine. With a BBQ to eat outdoors and excellent kitchen facilities, eating in was just as easy as going out. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, as is the rest if the house. I particularly liked the French feel of the place, with the big wooden shutters and olive trees in the garden. On top of that, internet connection is supplied along with UK TV. A truly fabulous holiday, would definitely recommend.
