I stayed for four nights at Kiah and Lakshan's gorgeous homestay in Ella. It was certainly one of the nicest places I stayed in Sri Lanka, mainly due to Kiah and Lakshan's wonderful hospitality. They (and Kiah's parents who built the guest house) have made a very welcoming atmosphere. I enjoyed our chats over the sumptuous breakfasts and had the pleasure of accompanying Kiah to one of the local weekend markets. They helped me organise daily outings and tips for things to do, and onwards transport to Galle. The veranda where breakfast is served has a to-die-for view through the trees to two huge waterfalls and birds and native mammals abound. I stayed in the Garden Room which was separate from the main house and was a very peaceful retreat, also with fantastic view. If you don't mind some steep steps near the gate, you can walk easily to Ella town along the train tracks in 20 minutes, and even on to the Nine Arch Bridge after that. Thank you Kiah and Lakshan for a lovely and memorable stay!
