I stayed for four nights at Kiah and Lakshan's gorgeous homestay in Ella. It was certainly one of the nicest places I stayed in Sri Lanka, mainly due to Kiah and Lakshan's wonderful hospitality. They (and Kiah's parents who built the guest house) have made a very welcoming atmosphere. I enjoyed our chats over the sumptuous breakfasts and had the pleasure of accompanying Kiah to one of the local weekend markets. They helped me organise daily outings and tips for things to do, and onwards transport to Galle. The veranda where breakfast is served has a to-die-for view through the trees to two huge waterfalls and birds and native mammals abound. I stayed in the Garden Room which was separate from the main house and was a very peaceful retreat, also with fantastic view. If you don't mind some steep steps near the gate, you can walk easily to Ella town along the train tracks in 20 minutes, and even on to the Nine Arch Bridge after that. A special experience at Waterfalls Homestay - thank you :)

We stayed in the studio room for 2 nights and extended our stay by an extra night. The studio room was spotless, well equipped and had a really homely feel. It was private and up a set of stairs away from the main living area.

The breakfast here was another level, it was by far the best breakfast we’ve had in Sri Lanka after being here just over a week.

The hosts Kiah and Lakshan were so friendly and laid back, they gave great recommendations for things to do in Ella and provided a map for local walks and helped us with arranging a transfer for the next part of our trip.

The setting is so peaceful, a short tuk tuk from the bustle of Ella, also a 15 minute walk if you’d rather go by foot, a powerful torch was left in our room for walking back in the dark.

A must stop in Ella!

Wow what a location. Opposite a running waterfall, with the occasional sighting in the distance of the famous Ella to Kandy Train.

The accommodation was like staying in someone's beautiful home. The rooms were really comfortable, the hosts were wonderfully welcoming, and the morning breakfast muffins were to die for.

With the added bonus of the lovely Ella being a 10minute tuttut ride away, i'm not sure there is anywhere better to stay if visiting that part of Sri Lanka.
